Hmm , not bad , but a bit thin in places. I expected rather more in the pre 63 GT race especially . Ho hum , I will still enjoy it, and this time next week I will be savouring a bacon and egg sandwich before wandering over to the old pits .

I wonder if the proximity to the Goodwood Revival has affected entries in the Pre 63 GT race ? In previous years teams would have had an extra month to prepare. Even so thirty cars isn't that bad.
More worrying is that the saloon car series have all been lumped in together. The U2TC series has struggled for entries for some time and the later cars for the sixties series has so far produced just Richard Dutton's Escort. And the thought of that little one litre Mini being lapped every few laps by all those hairy turbo engined cars... Meanwhile, in the HTCC section the number of RS500s and Skylines seem to increase with every race, while just a dozen cars are entered in the Tony Dron Trophy. Perhaps the attraction of the HRDC and GTSCC Group 1 series is proving too much for competitors fed up with their cars being outclassed by the later and much more powerful Group A cars. |

It will be interesting to see how many Group 1.5 cars are attracted to the Castle Combe Autumn Classic meeting for the GTSCC race compared to the HRDC race at Silverstone. I always think there is a premium to running races at Silverstone as not only is it centrally placed I wonder if there is an attraction to racing at (not necessarily on) the current Grand Prix circuit. Is the GTSCC race longer than the HRDC race ?

On the subject of relatively thin entry lists this (https://www.dailysportscar.com/2022/...dern-gt4s.html) indicates that the provisional entry list for the GT4 races stands at 13 cars - which might be a little hard going on the GP circuit.

The Masters Historic Racing entries have just been posted. The Gentleman Drivers GT race tops the list with 66 entries, the Pre '66 Saloons 51,the Endurance Legends and Classic Endurance Legends both have over 30 entries, the Pre '86 Formula One cars a very reasonable 21 but the new GT4 series race has only garnered a smallish entry entry of 15.

Given some of the poor grids both at the Donington HF and Thruxton, I'm very happy with the MRL grids at the Classic. The Masters grids are decent and there is plenty to see and do while the GT4s are on track. So far so good.

Great to see Mike Bell's beautiful RS1600 "Lairy Canary" stomping round.

I saw on the TSL Timing site that there was a 'Brodie' driving a Sierra RS500 in the Tony Dron trophy qualifying. Presumably this is Jimmy not Dave the man himself?

Met Iain, who is having a bit of a mare this weekend. Hopefully all will be well after Thundersports Quali this afternoon. Think I'll pop back to see him tomorrow.

Correct about iain's helmet, used to be white/light blue/dark blue I think. Dunno if this has changed. Nice live stream, thanks for the link.

Had a great day today. First time at the Classic without being either fried, frozen or drowned which made a nice change. Lots of wonderful cars and noises and not too crowded. Pity the trend by some teams of roping off entry to their garage is spreading - not in line with the spirit of the event. Not sure what the GT4s were for either.
Star cars for me were the two Cologne Capris with the three CSLs for company. And the Dino Ferrari. And all the HF2s. And the big orange McLaren. And the Blue pre war Alfa. And, and ,and….. Live stream tomorrow. Nothing will convince me it’s worth trying to actually watch racing at Silverstone |
