I guess we have an early favorite for the 2021 Grand National championship: Aj Allmendinger...going full time.

He's fast, he's solid, so I think that's a good shout. He should definitely be in the running.

Loved the Dinger in OWs because at the time he seemed to be the only American to beat the The Frenchman during his dominant CART period.
Having finally broken through on a speedway this past season, maybe he has a shot. He's got the experience at 38 and if he's got a good team, he should be decent against the young talent on speedways and coupled with 6 road courses, maybe he's got something. Wish he'd run sports cars full time.... |

So Covid schedule changes have started. Auto Club off the menu and Daytona road course replacing it the week after the 500.
Another road course = another golden opportunity for Chase, so no complaints here! |

And all 3 series will remain so the fun of the trucks guys on the roval as well, usually been entertaining up at Mosport. Trucks lost their round at Miami and that round pushed back a week for Cup and Grand National
The Fontana redesign is also pushed back to have the final big track race in 2022 before demo and short track buildup |

Well maybe NASCAR is learning, a bit of change can be enjoyable and good drivers can adapt. Minimal running prior to the green flag at almost all races.
https://racer.com/2021/01/08/nascar-...ght-key-races/ From Racer: The eight (with practice) races are: • The Daytona 500 (Feb. 14) • Bristol Motor Speedway dirt (March 28) • Circuit of The Americas (May 23) • The Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte (May 30) • Nashville Superspeedway (June 20) • Road America (July 4) • Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course (Aug. 15) • Phoenix Raceway (Nov. 7) The list makes sense, Daytona and Charlotte are the premier events so I get it, Bristol is dirt and no book for that, COTA, Nashville, Road America and Indy road course are new to the series. The finale, well that didn't have practice last season no need for it in 21 but one of 30 some rounds with stupid practice? Guess that's not too bad. |

As mentioned in the article, practice and qualifying for Busch and Trucks is undetermined.
I'm done learning the new sponsors now. It's Cup, Busch and Trucks. That's it from now on, I could go Cup, Grand National and Trucks but Busch sticks in my head. |

Busch got stuck in my head too. Probably because of the Busch brothers racing (though not necessarily in Busch) and all the buschwhacking chit chat when a Cup driver drove in Busch. Grand National was a bit of a mouthful and xfinity just doesn't roll off the tongue.
So, conspiracy theory, they added some practice 'cause one of the Busch's needs track time to have a good weekend. |

When will the idiots learn you have to be on all the time, even on iRacing? Hallie Degan, the great new Danica hope, called another driver a retard on the last event. Now she needs to complete Sensitivity Training in a month or she can't run her full season in Trucks. https://racer.com/2021/01/11/deegan-...ng-after-slur/ |

Thanks for the shiny hat. It suits me.
Idiots with microphones. Unplug the blooming thing if you can't keep your mouth shut! Communicate to pits with hand gestures like the good ol' days. 2 fingers - I'm coming in next time round for two tyres 4 fingers - I want four tyres boys! 1 finger - for driver to driver communication... |

Apparently FS1 heard the complaining during the 24Hour. Chase didn't stop with the rest of the guys, old tires and he's pulled almost 2 seconds on the new tire guys. No mention at all, oh he started last too.

Sh1t ending, SH1T drive in the last chicane by both Blaney blocked poorly and Chase squared it into him. And the prick won. Sorry guys, you need more brakes, Blaneys failed at the rear and screwed everyone out of a good race ending
After watching, Chase conceded the win after the contact with Blaney. He didn't accelerate away like he should have to block the Bush win. Sometimes discretion and quality competitor loses to a prick |

To me looked like Chase simply couldn't get the car going again after losing all the momentum on the brakes/ contacting the #12.
I have a soft spot for Kyle, so pleased for him that he seems to be running well as opposed to last year where nothing seemed to go right. With a win on the board there might be less moaning from him when a mike gets shoved in his face post race. Or maybe not |

I don't remember, but is the next generation Cup car supposed to have carbon/carbon or carbon ceramic brakes at least for road courses? I know that they'll have IRS, a semi-automatic gearbox and wheels and tires the size that LMP1 cars used to run a few years back.

I have not seen a brake particular statement included with the car news. I would not be surprised if they remain standard iron brakes
Those who know more possibly can tell from a NASCAR picture what they are running in one of the test cars. https://drivetribe.imgix.net/dMpunb-...op=faces&dpr=1 Last edited by broadrun96; 10 Feb 2021 at 22:41. |
