I forget the exact inscription, it was read out at BNO - as John says above the call of duty and at the risk to one's own life.

As John says it is awarded for an act of bravery above and beyond the call of duty.

The Browning Medal was first awarded in 1973 to David Purley for trying to get Roger Williamson from his burning car. David went on to be awarded the George Cross for his actions. Since the original award, the medal has not been awarded again until last Saturday evening. That is why I feel so incredibly humble at being given the medal.

Humble Shmumble. Great call from the BARC.

Thanks John. I'm still humble though. To be given the medal for my actions cannot compare to those of David Purley. However, it does not mean that I am not extremely grateful for the award.

Stephen, whilst you may not have dived into a burning car, I'm b@663d if anything in the world would get me onto a live F1 track to fetch a bloke in a skirt. Beyond the call of duty if you ask me and, as said, a good call from the BARC.
