They maybe trying to generate income from Cup with a juicy deal from Dodge in exchange for Dodge having a firm foothold in Cup. But, yeah, maybe they've fastened up any sponsorship woes that that may have had.

Bruton Smith should not be involved in motorsport. What an idiot. A case where capital punishment may not be a bad idea.

...and for the record I never thought I'd one day have to actually defend Bruton Smith As for the topic at hand, Jayski reports he's hearing Matt Kenseth will indeed replace Joey Logano in the #20 Home Depot/Dollar General Toyota. Just a rumour right now, of course, but a lot of the things Jayski "hears" about tend to be true... Time will tell, shouldn't be that long before Kenseth announces something officially now. |

Back on the driver front for a moment...
... with Mr Allmendinger in some warm soup with the powers that be, who might become the pilot to run this car firstly for the balance of the season, and 2013? A nice game of musical chairs might see Mr Ambrose follow Ford to Penske #22... while his former #9 switches to Dodge... It would be a nice scenario... as unlikely as it seems... |

Not "Silly Season" material but a pretty funny story.

If 'dinger is permanently parked, I think they'll stick with Hornish Jr. He's respected by the Penske hierarchy.
I think Allmendinger will get back his ride though. |

I got the feeling that the powers that be in Daytona Beach are not going to go forward with Carl's idea.

It looks like Kenseth will end up in the #20 JGR ride. Whether this means that Joey Logano will get the bum's rush, or will have a ride in a fourth Gibbs Toyota team, I don't know. Given his improved performances this season, if he does get the Order of the Boot, then he could count himself unlucky, to say the least.
As for Dodge, it seems that they will have a new flagship team at Andretti. Likely lead driver is Kurt Busch, which is kind of ironic given that he was the lead Dodge driver before losing his drive for being mean to people to AJ Allmendinger, who won't have a drive anywhere after being busted for drugs. I can't get my head around NASCAR's drugs policy, given its moonshining heritage, and history of alcohol and tobacco sponsorship. Anyway, who really cares if team personnel enjoy the odd spliff from time-to-time in off-duty hours? Of course, driving on the highway whilst intoxicated is a totally different issue; just ask Brian France. Last edited by Clive Brown; 20 Jul 2012 at 13:11. |

AJ has officially been suspended from Nascar. Now, the 22 seat could be up for grabs assuming Hornish doesn't take the seat next year.

The substance has been revealed to be amphetamine. What sort of "over the counter" meds, which the Allmendinger camp has blamed it on, could register a hit for that?

So at least no-one could accuse AJ of not being up to speed?

Excellent proposal for me as a fan. Never liked the top 35 rule even though I get why it's there.
