Certainly the BBC have made good choices, their two live races have been exciting enough.

and again a lot of problems with that Renault, what are Renault doing?
Ricciardo's engine blowing up across the finish line and Max having ERS problems since lap 2 until the system finaly completely stopped. |

Because of that he's already on his fourth engine.

Renault are awful but Imo that doesn't excuse the RBR appearing to be slower than the STR quite often. Newey's magic touch missing?

Whilst talking about power-units, Toto Wolff states that during the meeting of the teams, the PSU suppliers, Charlie Whiting of the FIA and Bernie Ecclestone held over the course of the weekend, the PSU suppliers, and I assume the teams, made it abundantly clear to BCE and the FIA that any new rules concerning PSUs in 2017 will have to be centred on the existing V6s. As long as the FIA want to retain the current format, it will only need just 3 of the Grandee teams to vote with them to outvote BCE. As Toto Wolff says, the suppliers could work towards producing 1000 bhp from the V6s if required, but he fails to understand what is so magical about that figure. I happen to agree with him, because they will create other problems if they make the cars any faster. And then they will probably want or need to make the circuits safer, and then have to put further safety elements in place top protect the few spectators that turn up for the races, with more catch fences between the tracks and the public. And then you will need to have a pair of binoculars or a telescope to see the cars, and you will be so far away that it won't matter any more that the engines don't sound like the old V8s. |

To make the end, you first have to make the beginning...
McLaren are, quite simply, a disgrace. Jenson must be eyeing the WEC with increasingly green eyes now. How a team with such resources can come up with such a shed is almost beyond comprehension. The Ron owes JB an apology for keeping him on... |

I'm puzzled by Vettel's nose change. Firstly, when was the damage done? Before he went off the road, or when he went off the road?
Secondly, what was the damage? I couldn't see any in the television pictures as they took it off. Many people have continued with far more visible damage than that, and with relatively little loss of pace. Could it be that Vettel's biggest mistake today was opting to change the nose? |

I can only assume Bernie thinks it might be good to be able to say F1 has 1000bhp engines, perhaps to challenge WEC or Indy? Who knows how that little rodents mind works. |

He's probably looking back to 1986, through rose tinted spectacles, when teams ran engines with unrestricted turbo boost in qualifying. The engines and gearboxes would last about 2–3 laps, so for the race, turbocharger boost was restricted to ensure engine reliability but the engines still produced 950–1000 bhp.

I'll reserve judgement on McLaren Honda until the summer break. I never understood why people thought they would hit the ground running when they had so little testing time. If there wasn't a restriction on engine numbers I'm sure they would be a lot faster but there's no point in burning through the units when there are still developments left for later in the year. |

After Red Bull and Renault butted heads in a very public way, Renault were very quick to blame Red Bull for all of the problems. Whilst the Red Bull is probably a bit more demanding on the engines than the other cars, Renault must be feeling very embarrassed given they publicly argued back that the engines were fine.
