Heeellllllllooooooooo from the red neck wonderland. Is there a motor race on this weekend? Not really sure to be honest. For the first time in a long time I won't be there on Friday.
The publicity sort of cranked up after the Aust Sprintcar titles but hasn't been much to talk about since. Some trucks are parked up and Bargs was at Le Beach for dinner tonight but it really appears low key so far. |

Gyroscope are a band that are playing as part of the "festival", and on an interview this morning they said they were in Darwin over the weekend, the interviewer says "oh yet what for", and they reply, "V8 supercars or something". Not really confidence inspiring...

Given the lack of activity in this thread, how will we go in the 8 week break?

"We" will be fine.
It's the fringe dwelling half-followers out in consumerland that will forget all about V8 Supercar. Then again, they're probably all on the Socceroos band wagon at the moment anyway... |

If people could stop using oversized kazoos for 90minutes straight I'd still like to see that wagon, but ........
This break between races is terrible, the sport will not grow doing this, but it has real potential to get smaller. The long break ahead will verge on being ridiculous for a mid-season of a top-level competition. |

gotta laugh the midseason (or summer) break in F1 is 5 weeks, i don't claim that V8's are on the same scale as F1 but seriously 8 weeks is a step back. for most of the one's that tune in every round and are motorsport nuts will just pick up where they left off. as for the more casual fan and the new audience V8's are trying to pitch to with Pink, the concerts etc it's not going to help there cause in luring them having rounds all over the shop. VESA's need to work out a schedule for rounds to be consistantly spaced IMO.

It would be great to have as many rounds as in F1 from a fan's perspective. By the same token, a break for the teams would also be welcome relief and a good time to test some new developments. |

Anyway, I haven't missed the V8s one bit. Plenty of other motorsport to watch at the moment. How about the Canadian GP, eh? That was tops. When was the last time I got that excited about V8s? Probably Bathurst 2007. Looking forward to Bathurst this year but thats about it. |

And Jamie did a stack of laps to get his eye in in the new lightweight T8 supermachine.

Just a side issue, can anyone help?. The normal link I use for live timing seems to be down or not working is anyone else having a drama with live timing. Plus the link I use for bigpond live feed now sends me to teh bigpond home page and I can not get to the live feed of the v8.
If anyone can help with either new links or anything it would be appreicated. TSR |

Just remember to place nicely children, not like the punch-up on the sunday night or the golf club incident at the caravan park after the sprintcar titles!!!!
Hopefully the Nanny Territory government OH&S department have been locked up for the weekend, otherwise they may want to stop the racing because the cars are too fast, too noisy, the spectators aren't wearing the correct safety clothing etc!!!! Is Bob McDonald of Kakadu Air still driving in the HQ series? |
