Maybe the team was just being supportive of Fisi, but they said he lost seven-tenths of a second, which would have made quite a difference.

It seems all the whining has prompted the officials to investigate.
According to the chat room on JV's website that is. Last edited by Kirk; 6 May 2006 at 18:40. |

The reports on Autosport (and others) suggest that JV doesn't think there is a problem and Fisi thinks that JV hould lose his quickest Q lap. The stewards are investigating.
From what I saw JV did little wrong. I don't have a recording of it to review, but I am sure they'll show it again tomorrow. |

I say it's a shame to see Fisi acting that way, even when it's called latin temper, which is another excuse for bad manners. It's sad because I can say he's losing his head for not being able to get to the edge, when he has the chance to make it big.

I have a recording and, sorry, JV didn't hold Fisi up. I've watched it a few times and I'm trying to find something to placate Fisi's stupid pitlane antics.
But I can't. Fisi hardly closed on JV at all, so quite how this can be interpreted as JV blocking I'm not so sure. But hey, if I was ten places behind my teammate in the best car on the grid, I'd be pretty upset too. Oh well. |

OMG they have given Villeneuve a penalty which moves him to 10th, then back to 9th because of webbers engine penalty.
Pathetic, the stewards have said they didn't think it was deliberate, therefore why hand out a penalty???? |

This is a black day for F1.
It has been proved that if you whinge enough, no matter how unfounded your gripe, you will be backed up to the hilt. A black day indeed. *bows head* |

Well from what I remember that is wrong. He did nothing warranting such a penalty.

I'm not sure what coverage you got over there, but on this side of the pond, they only showed the last few seconds of the lap, so it was difficult to see either way.
On his diary on gazzetta.it, Giancarlo claims Jacques did the blocking on purpose, because he feared being excluded from the last ten. Has anyone actually seen footage of the entire lap, or are we jumping to conclusions? I say if the stewards penalized it, then it was probably warranted. |

No, we did not see it, as it apparently occurred in the 2nd sector but what flabberghasts me is Fisi saying (and he hasn't stopped whining since this morning) that JV should know that cars can be affected from 100 yards away. So, in essence JV should be pulling aside when he sees Fisi within a football field away. Right!
Even though JV only loses one place on the grid, I'm disgusted. And this sets a bad precedent. |

Great, if you don't like your result, whinge enough and you'll get rewarded for it.
Apparently F1 hasn't changed a bit since the Ballestre days. I've had enough of these shenanigans. |

I only saw the part of the incident where Fisi raise his hand up when he was like 200 metres behind JV. I just don't understand some of his actions like that, what is it gaining.
To me, I guess he thinks (or knows) he's on his way out at Renault or F1 altogether, and I'd imagine once these pressures get to you, incidents and mistakes that would seem miniscule to other drivers are amplified. |

Oh dear just noted from the news coverage that FussyFella called JV a 'bar steward'.
Fisi may have a point - there's nothing worse in my opinion than a slow obstructive bar steward, especially when they deliberately ignore you. BUT, I've had a look at my recording and it appears to me that the bar steward did nothing wrong. I agree with some fellows on here - when you are underperforming compared to your team mate - to the extent that he is, you have to blame something and vent your feelings somewhere. Just wonder what Flav and Pat have to say. |

JV will go back one place on the grid due to this "incident".
So, what happens if you hold someone up in a race, do you get penalised then too? |

This is great, no matter how you are looking at it(for JV of course).
1. JV did a good 8 th place. 2. JV got , again a lot of publicity. |

The irony though that by JV starting 9th, he starts from the clean side of the grid. It may help him in the end.
PS .. Louis must be on vacation. He would be all over this! |
