I've got no doubt that the race should be red flagged, it is ludicrous to keep running cars through Ralf's debris.

Well, it's done now. This has got to be reviewed.
Let's hope Ralf is OK! |

I am on the web watching live timing and they said they know Ralf was conscious immediately after the accident, so that is a good sign. I hope he is okay. how bad of a crash was it, for those of you watching?

It's been said plenty of times but it makes you wonder whether concrete walls have any place near cars doing nearly 200 miles per hour.
Is the USGP really worth someone potentially getting killed with such a dangerous barriers on the fastest bit of the track? Silverstone gets dissed and maybe dropped because the facilities are are 'old' - but I'm not sure they are such potential death-traps. Oh and it looks like hardly anyone is there! |

I agree slightly Hugh Jarce....particularly as F1 cars aren't designed for oval running and are more vulnerable to the dangers of the concrete wall.
It's one thing running IRL on them, another thing entirely for F1! |

They've just said that Ralf has bruising to the back & concussion which is good news as it could have been a lot worse.

A lot more to be said about this.
Taking the cars through the pitlane when the icnident is on the startline - very true, I hope they correct that in future. I suspect Montoya's car was fully fuelled-up before the foramtion lap procedure. Interesting tactic from Webber to pit at the end of the safety car - I suspect they planned to stay out and run near the front, but reconsidered when the SC period went on longer, and decided that, by coming in, tehy'd save an extra 6-8 laps of fuel. |
