I've never heard the real AJ commentate, I've only heard him in the hoist role. Anyone who was at Lakeside last Sunday would have had the pleasure of hearing our very own Crash Test on circuit commentary.

I think that if a class can't get more than 8 or 10 cars entered, then maybe the promotoers have got to have the balls to say, "thanks, but no thanks" and return the entries. Ultimately, it will galvanise the class into getting themselves more organised and putting in a better effort next time. Plus the spectators will be happier because they don't have to watch a 5 car parade and the other competitors will be happier because it will give another slot on the program, allowing more/longer races.

In hindsight they should have been stuffed in with the Improved Productions, but I guess neither party would like that set up.
Also, what they hell was going on when they had a race for Saloon Cars, Carol Jackson and Matt Jackson. Matt won, what class should i credit those points to in QRDA pointscore? Blimey.... |

If the commentator is any good he's always got something to talk about, but when the race is on it should be about the race.
Five cars? Well, life is full of challenges... |

Hmmm, 4 Falcons and a Commodore, no passing after the first turn, all of the drivers new to the sport, and you can only talk about specs for so long...and I think you have to keep it relevent.
I think a good commentator is one who can add some excitment to a race, but also have a decent knowledge of the cars/drivers etc. |

If there's one thing I loathe, it's commentators who think that lots of shouting and gibberish will make a race more exciting. Either a race is exciting or it isn't and no amount of voluble buffoonery will change that. I believe a commentator's job is to tell people what they don't already know and can't see for them self. It's up to the commentator to inform the people and the cars and drivers to entertain them.
Crash, the Improved Production guys are sick to death of being used as a dumping ground for every orphan with a roof and mudguards. Quite simply, they believe that if they're putting on the biggest fields and the best racing, they should be treated with respect, not contempt and not taken for granted. The Jackson and saloon car race was to make it up to the non Improved Production cars who were excluded from the Improved Production state Championship race. As far as allocating points for the meeting goes, Carol was the only GTP car entered at the meeting and Matt was the only Historic Touring Car entered. So i guess they both won their class. |

That is exactly why I hate those 2 pommie imbeciles Channel 10 have commentating on the CART coverage this year. It was such a releif to watch the Indy 500 the other night with competent commentators...I was almost in heaven listening to their imformed commentary instead of the blabbering Jeremy Shaw and his sidekick carrying on like parrots. The commentary is so bad on CART coverage this yea I am seriously considering giving up watching CART all together. |

Yeah, we'll be sorting out the pointscore at the meeting on Wednesday(new venue too...).
Sports Sedans have the same problem re dumping ground....but on the same note they don't have the biggest grids. Then again, they would be considerably bigger had this sports car class not have taken off. There would be 5 or 6 Porsches in the Sports Sedans now....but then again, the Sports Cars have been putting together some big fields of late on their own. |

Hehe...I'm actually surprised how good Jason Preiestley was in the Indy call...he seemed to really know what he was talking about

My wish list is Crompton as expert commentator and Wade Aunger as anchor nad "colour" as somebody put it.
Wade does a great job on World of Speedway and elsewhere and doing local motorbikes on Speedweek. Hate list, in no particular order, Darrel Eastlake, Greg Rust, Craig Denyer and Mike Raymond. Jason you don't have a sense of humour, what could be more ridiculous than a Pommy motor cycle racer commentating on Aussie V8's. Barry is good value, he can be relied upon to say something different. Having won two World Championships underneath all the waffle the guy has some idea of what racing is all about. |
