Great move by Leclerc to take 2nd, while Verstappen and Norris were squabbling.

A 2nd 10 second penalty for Super Max.
Austin comes back to bite him. |

Well well well. If it isn't the results of people's actions.

Its hard for me to understand why Max keeps this attitude. As to Pérez not admitting he was totally out of the starting box its either he needs new glasses (view glasses…) or a good shrink.

I imagine the reason Max second penalty took a while was the stewards were working out what the maximum penalty you can get for that utterly insane move was.

Lap 38. I need to go and take an enormous amount of drugs (pharmaceuticals, prescribed). Drivers, behave!

Blimey, Leclerc nearly binned it, what a great save but Norris is up to 2nd.

Any suggestion that Max knows the rules and just drives to them, utilizing loopholes, is completely gone.

I don't know what it means - hopefully someone on here may be able to explain - but currently the first penalty decision for Verstappen is shown as being recalled, and you are no longer able to download the Stewards PDF file.

They uploaded the second decision whilst typing and/or after my post above; the difference is that they have now included 2 points to his licence, which now stands at 6 points over the 12 month period.

Fantastic win for Sainz. I know I am saying to obvious, but Ferrari are likely to regret pushing him aside in favor of Hamilton. I guess we will only know for sure next year.
I felt bad for Yuki and Alex. I (and probably others) are very curious to watch the Yuki vs. Liam and Alex vs. Franco intra team battles. Both battles over before the first corner. I think Yuki had a fantastic start. There was that gap up the left side that he went for, but in the end, its part of the risk of being so far back on the grid at the start. No room for error and Gasly drifted left and set off that entire accident. I tend to think "racing incident", but do wonder what Gasly was doing as I think he had space to his right. The Lando and Max drama was of course entertaining. And Kudo's to the stewards for not letting the insanity continue. I couldn't help but to laugh. I am curious to watch the post race driver interviews to see what Max has to say. Charles had his "change my underwear" moment that allowed Lando past. I wonder how things might have played out if the race was a bit longer. I don't know if Sainz had any extra pace or not. But Sainz seemed to have it all under control. There is video circulating of Liam giving Checo the finger as he passes him. Given how much of a disaster this weekend has been for Checo, I can't imagine what it must be like. Max pitted, served his 20 second penalty and was still ahead of Checo on track. When they pulled Checo in for his attempt at fastest lap, I frankly had little confidence that he could do it. I don't think he even set a fastest sector time in any sector in his attempt. Richard |

Trying to be fair to Perez at least on the fastest lap thing - he was carrying car damage and was up against Leclerc trying to do the same on the same lap in a car which was already quicker all weekend (not that I think Perez would have done beaten him normally, but he stood less than no chance in those circumstances, hardly see why they bothered trying). The rest of his race/weekend though was pretty dire, and he wasn't just a shade over the line at the start, it was a good metre. That's just weird.
Sainz drove superbly - fully deserved win, and a good brave move to take the lead (yes, from quite a long way back but a) predictable and without a dangerous change of line and b) always under control and made the corner - that's how it's done, Max!). Verstappen was the worst version of himself - seemed to at least have enough common sense not too moan too much afterwards, but the first incident was just more of the same, and the second was pure red mist/head gone. I was pretty disgusted (though not surprised) to hear Horner after that go with the "they both went off track" line again - yes, obviously they did, or Norris would have just been t-boned, he literally had to steer right in a left hand turn. It really does need team bosses to start being a little bit less partisan in those moments where things were clearly wrong. Last edited by AndrewCherry; 27 Oct 2024 at 23:33. Reason: typo |
