silver 2 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hey VD - no humour here -- this is a Winton spruiking column. All that crap about Carrera Cup, V8 Supercars and mega nobodies spending OPM has no place here . This is a serious thread about WINTON! ( and look at the cast at it again)

Not so sure about that angle Nigel, I'd say it is CAMS Old Boys Club sour grapes.

As they don't have the inclination, intestinal fortitude, knowledge base or common sense to actually actively promote themselves to would be track officials,

And as for training, well there are enough posts above covering the lip service they pay it...........

Hey Silver 2 why dont you go somewhere and talk about your PORSCHES and Marque Sports cars and leave us alone to be constructive about motorsport. I dont know what your beef is with Winton, but it sure would be GOOD if you could give it a rest!

silver 2 - just wondering if you could clear somethign up for me please.

Do you post personal viewpoints or Marque Sports Car Association (Vic) official viewpoints?

We know the MSCA have a beef with Winton (well with anything non-CAMS judging by the vehement attacks some other MSCA member have made over the last 3-4 months) - so are you just carrying this on on their behalf or is it now perosnal?

Either way someone needs to step back and take a look at the world around them.

No S/L, John is just upset he doesn't have the way for how to work out how to get a drive around Winton!

Vanilla Dice has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I heard that Judy Ellicott has got the bullet from Wakefield Park?

Anyone else hear this??

Leaves a few upcoming meetings in a bit of a mess, with a CAMS official stepping in to be both Clerk of Course and Race Secretary

I didnt think you could do both jobs, but what do I know, I just make work for officials, not try and understand them...

Her name is absent from my Wakefield State Champs entry form. Maybe the competitors wil get their sup regs and tickets before they turn up to the track on saturday.
Timekeeping may even get a competitor list before the meeting starts

Interesting news about Wakefield - makes you ask if CAMS NSW office will continue their Tribunal investigations into her activities and the other allegations of 'result tampering'?

Tickets before the meeting starts? A valid competitor list? Why would you want stuff like that

I can recall being at the Xmas 500 and I had no idea who we were racing until they rocked up on the dummy grid. We had a shot at the win, well our driver/patron thought we did, but when we discovered the Ferrari and Porsche on the grid... it was sort of a waste of time rocking up.

Ol' Judes has a really HOT babe for a daughter tho I will miss her forgetting/not wanting to get me a timing sheet the Secretary never bothered to deliver. Only reason it was worth going to the tower really

Storytime-- you got the wrong connections. You better clarify with Mathew. You certainly have got the wrong perspective on my views. I like Winton.Geez , I even like Mick. I just happen to disagree on a few things. How much fun would it be without all that ill directed, humourless pap. As an observation it would help us all if a lot of the negative energy spent rationalising everything Winton was redirected into helping those that are battling the system(Cams) to try and create something for all motorsport. Before you get carried away-- competitors want and need to race somewhere else besides Winton.

Before I get too much reaction-- the thread has wandered a bit-- perhaps the Winton column is more appropriate place, This initiative to train more officials is important for the future and to give newcomers the opportunity is important to the future of the sport in general. If ASSA is to be independent in the future it will need a system of its own to guarantee trained personal.

And your point is ???

At least 50% of those who attend the day will work at a CAM$ sanctioned event sometime in 2006, as the sport is far more important than individuals.

They do because they know they are the ones that make a difference, and it is the love of the sport [some call it a sickness] that drives these volunteers to attend & contribute to the best of their ability.

here endeth the lesson........

Tell that to the members clubs of MSCA and clubs such as PIARC as they are the ones preventing this from happening - not the tracks.

I've often wondered just why they do it. Most of the flaggies I know get treated like crap and the CAMS, the promoters, most of the drivers and a **** load of the media either ignore them or make fun of them.
BTW what ever happened to the "Official of the week" bit in Auto Fiction?
CAMS pull the plug on the sponsorship?

Good luck to all the guys at the winton day its a great idea and with Simon from Racesafe doing it I bet even the Conspiricy Against Motor Sport cant complain about the quality of the training.

And Motorcycling Australia events,

and NASR,

and ANDRA,

and anything else that involves two, three, four or six wheels (think trucks) although is there a sanctioning body for Unicycle racing out there somewhere

The PVDA Taxi service is due to arrive at 8:30am depending on how long we spend at Hide's Bakery in Benalla on the way up
