I have seen a release on one of the A1 sites to say there won't be any tests before the season but, presuming A1 will race at the Gold Coast, there will be 3 or 4 (or something like that) hours of track time on the Thursday.

Kiwi, do you know what this means?

It's the message on A1 Team China's site.

I am still learning characters but it seems to mean the website gave no response.

This does not mean anything, I know through personal contacts that A1 Team China are active and have plans with Ho Pin Tung as lead driver for this season and for a future China street race (although not this season).

Good, I am glad to hear that - I like Ho-Pin a lot, I thought he drove well last season under tricky conditions (they got the car late and had minimal testing).

Lam Pak has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
team china is going deeper. last year was disaster. the rookie guy is a slow motion robot. pin tung was flushing all the time and astromega is the apocalipse. MR LIU need to kill a chicken and get new ppl on board.

i dont think a1gp go to china any more. envision the following. chengdu was fancy and rusty. zhuhai cant attract any more international races. And shanghai is detract. beijing street circuit fell apart cause the crisis. refrain. chian can say goodbye to a1gp.

Thanks Asa.

Lam Pak - I will continue your comment in the calender thread, since this is supposed to be the entry list thread.

http://www.independent.ie/sport/othe...s-1893503.html RTE clearly have it wrong.

Quote:
"We're pushing ahead with plans and looking forward to the first round in Surfers Paradise next month," says Kennedy. "A1 officials have reassured the seat holders of all the nations competing in the series that the necessary finance and infrastructure is in place and we're proceeding based on that."

"We're talking to drivers and the full composition of the squad will be confirmed in due course but I don't think we'll have many changes," he said.
Doesn't sound like a man who's team is pulling out. I'd believe an article with quotes from the team's seat holder over a generic copycat "A1GP is dying" one.

Talking about drivers for Team Aus, i'd expect John Martin to be main driver, but who will be the rookie driver? Any chance of Nathan Antunes return?

"A1 officials have reassured the seat holders of all the nations competing in the series that the necessary finance and infrastructure is in place and we're proceeding based on that."

Perhaps A1 officials should also put out a press release to this effect then.

The positive article you have posted is a day after the negative RTE one, perhaps RTE could have done their homework better but perhaps the reassurance has come from A1GP in the last 24 hours, who knows.

Let's hope it is a new assurance, not one from months/weeks ago that may not still apply!

Status Grand Prix (aka A1 Team Ireland) confirmed for GP3. I suspect it's just part of the team's plans for expansion, but no doubt it will fuel some more negative speculation...

It should not result in negative speculation. Mark Gallagher said last year that he wanted to expand the team's portfolio. GP3 is a good fit with A1GP anyway. A1GP Autumn/ winter/ Spring - GP3 early Summer and summer. Should allow them to keep the team together.

I fail to see the point in speculating about an entry list when the cars are still impounded by the administrators.

Without cars you do not have a race car series.

Er, ok, I may not have studied economics, but... Inpounding a total value of at most £25 million to hope to gain £100 million + , and in doing so taking away the only possibility for the firm to actually come up with £100 million doesn't sound very sensible to me.

In other words, it's cheaper and easier to create new cars and stuff the administrator :P

Then again, I never studied economics.

I think they realised that to get anything out of A1 this was the only way as they had so many debts. It also pushes them to resolve their problems before going into further debt. It may be cheaper but look at the problems they had last year building cars, and that was before everyone had realised the scale of A1's debt.?? It would also be impossible to get the credibility to re start if they don't sort out their affairs correctly as motor sport is a relatively small/open community.

Anyway todays "D day" and we should find out just how A1 will appear this year. So I've been told!

Greetings Gents,

New guy to your little neighborhood. I'm interested to learn what the current status is with the A1GP Series, so any links to news releases about the prospects for '09/'10 are much appreciated. Thanks!
