Grosjean brings out the second FCY and makes a meal of it.
Edit no FCY, I was getting ahead of myself. |

Ahhh, Romain on his own spins it. But hey, new hybrid starter so that's a plus. But Romain returned to his GT1 roots suddenly it seems
Did I miss the FCY or did the hybrid save us a FCY, even if Grosjean tried to bring it out |

Seems like a reasonable 'unsafe conduct' penalty there on Grosjean. Only a drive thru is getting off light, almost would have considered stop and hold for that nonsense

Wow Malukas, that wasn't even an effort to be in the regs man. Hit that empty slot and gunned it instead of making the corner. At least Sowery was paying attention in the driver's meeting

given the location and speed not sure if he would have been able to put in the steering needed to get to the cones.

But I've never been a fan of that chicane, I get it but meh figure out something else. No idea what though Penske seems to have IMSA'd pit stops in Indy this year. So much faster than everyone else consistently. And Foyt so far adrift, and as I say that they did a decent one but still not great. |

Last stop for Santino. First of the leaders to stop. would be nuts if a caution came before the other leaders stop

Colton on the stall leaving but hybrid recovery on pit lane. Supposedly not allowed on pit lane to use hybrid restart, either Indy WTF reg is that's true

Wait, WTF is this nonsense from Indy??? Penalty for illegal operation of the car is give up a spot to a lap down car?? If that's truly the regulation that hybrid restart isn't allowed then he should be excluded instead of giving up a spot to a lap down car. Drivers who spin another get a drive thru, give him that at least but one spot seems pointless
I'm 100% against the rule as why but if it is the rule that's a technical reg violation and needs more than let Fittapaldi by |

Uh weren't they discussing earlier this season how Will had been past this sell by not having won in a while. He's got 3 wins, no one else has won 3 yet and he drove away from Palou. In F1 that would have been laps over the field

Congrats to Will Power, that was a dominant performance.

Yeah, that's my thing. If Indy regs say no then it's no and outside of the regs full stop and that's on the team so excluded. But I think not allowing it is RIDICULOUS full stop. It's in the system make the driver have to react and refire not the team, that's the more logical system to me

Race Result
Overall that was a good team result for Team Penske, with all three drivers in the top ten and a good result for Will Power. However after Rossi rear ended him at WWTR last weekend, he still has his work cut out if he is going to win the driver's title, though Alex Palou has still yet to win a race on an oval. |

Kirkwood did shove him off. That was a bit naughty, IMHO. Fitta finished it off. I think both could share the blame as Scott did absolutely nothing wrong to have his race end before the end of lap 1.

Bit of a pedestrian race. Most overtaking on pitstops. Cool track. Not that cool of a race.

I don't understand why road races have been so boring this year.
Dixon had partial blame for his crash, as he crossed the track left to right like there was nobody on his side. Rare mistake by him. |

Yeah, someone else hit a curb and plowed into the side of him while overtaking him on lap one, but blame him some, if we must.

I can only think they are fuel saving. Davey Hamilton on IndyCar radio mentioned it during the race yesterday, as well as in previous road races this year. Last edited by bjohnsonsmith; 26 Aug 2024 at 15:27. |
