But what battles? The only way anybody overtook anyone else is because they were on much better tyres or much better at saving fuel. There was zero actual battling going on. Isn't that what a spec chassis is supposed to provide, a level playing field so people are roughly on the same pace and can battle each other?

On one hand you are complaining that there is a lack of passes and on the other hand you are complaining that the only passing it done on different tyres and fuel strategies? |

I assume you stopped watching F1 years ago then? Because if Indycar is dreadful, what does that make F1 and that race at Spain? The only entertainment were the crashes at turn 1. Just wait till evening news comes on, it's the one thing they'll show other than Lewis getting the chequers. |

Really, the race would have been much mkre interesting if broadcast by nbcsn. That ABC crew is dreadful. No emotion, description, nothing. Just matter-of-fact "this just happened" and move on, and two ex-drivers, who unlike Paul Tracy and Townsend bell, rather than poking fun at each other and themselves, seem to be stuffy, and dry about their careers. Feels like the broadcast is something only acceptable 20 years ago. The weird female voice over for rejoins that have no reason to be there, constant commercials, infomercial for the Indy 500.... Ugh I was getting angry at them rather than enjoying the race. And if that wasn't enough, these killjoys had to spoil the results of the f1 race twice, as opposed to Leigh diffey making a point on numerous occasions to not spoil the results of other races. So not only did they minimize the enjoyment of this race, but also of the f1 race, of which I have not watched yet. Moral of the story: race wasn't the best, but had its intrigue. Was presented terribly, and can't be criticized if you turn around and then watch f1. At least in IndyCar there are 10 legitimate title contenders. |

Unusual Indycar race then. But every series has less than exciting races, including F1, which has it's moments too. I don't think the track had much to do with it, hopefully the next race will be better.
Whatever happens, the Indycar series is getting more exposure and so we should be thankful for that. It's enjoying a good era at the moment, hopefully the coverage improves too. Sometimes that can less than interesting too. Let's just enjoy the series. It's one of the best series of this time. So let's move on and look forward to the next race. In fact let's enjoy all racing, including F1, which will have better races in the future and especially Indycar with the closest racing on the planet |

It's dreadful and I've given up on most major network coverage. We have to go with YouTube streams or some other dodgy stream to actual follow the race instead of being bombarded by commercials during what is essentially an event full of advertisements.

Usually I get a feed from BTSport/ESPN, which is excellent, because when the commercials come up, the commentary switches to the BTSport studio and you can still watch the race but they weren't showing it on Saturday. It was tennis instead.

So I opened ESPN Play.com, where they don't air commercials, but let the track feed, sometimes with ambient audio, and sometimes with no audio at all.
