Interesting that the AMA Series has been cut from 9/10 rounds to 5 possibly 6 rounds.
Supersport is back, running 2 rounds at each event with Superbike & Daytona Sportbike - need the manufacturers to come back!

The split in roadracing down under between the ASBK & FX-ASC seems to be coming to an end with the FX-ASC series being the victor, thank god!

Suzuki : (a main stay for expensive ASBK racing & double defending champs) have pulled out of the ASBK, sighting cuts to budget & lack of sponsorship! Rather ironic seeing they where all for "factory" bikes when 10 bikes where on the grid!!!
Honda : another main stay of expensive factory ASBK racing - have withdrawn from the ASBK, most likely to enter FX-ASC...
Yamaha : moved to the FX-ASC 4 years ago - official team will run 4 bikes & welcome the return of other manufacturers...
BMW : Withdrew from the ASBK on Sunday & will race in the FX-ASC...
Kawasaki : Already committed to FX-ASC with numerous supported riders...
MV Agusta : New factory team will race ASBK, waiting to hear if there plans change now!

The FX-ASC released there calender 6 months ago, the ASBK about 3 weeks ago (clashing 2 of 6 dates, again) - FX-ASC have a tv package, ASBK - nothing yet.... They have been a joke for 5 years now, the promoter & Motorcycling Australia!

The FX run Australasian Superbike Championship should have healthy grids of 25 riders with most manufacturers all competing against each other - its a start in hopefully rebuilding Australian road racing to being like the glory days of the 90's, fingers crossed anyway!

The ASBK has a couple of rounds running with V8Supercars and TV coverage from Ch7 doesn't it?

Australian motorcycling has dropped so far its hard for anyone to come out as a winner, this ASBK vs FX divide has its roots back to the early 2000s doesn't it, with a brief merger for a few years in the mid-2000s?

What does Motorcycling Australia have to say about it all, do they have anything to do with FX?

ASBK has been cut to 3 rounds this year, 1 with the V8's in Darwin. They say they would rather do 3 "great rounds" than 6 "race meetings"

ASC/FX have 34 entrants for round 1 of the series in March - that is HUGE. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW, Aprilia - no Suzuki. All the big name riders in Australia racing - it should be great & its about blooody time!

MA have nothing to do with ASC/FX, MA follow ASBK and are responsible (with IEG) for the mess ASBK is in. Terry O'Neill runs the ASC/FX, MA don't like him for some reason.
Terry is a gun promoter - he ran ASBK from roughly 2004-2009, then MA put IEG incharge & Terry started his FX/ASC series again, growing in strength from year to year, whilst IEG screwed up the ASBK & now we are where we are!
