Cadillac on the back foot in first practice? Anyone know why the 62 Ferrari didn`t leave the pits during the session?

Two red flags and it's only practice. Going to get interesting over the next few days.

SethV Tube is first to the line with some video from this morning's paddock scenes. Looks like is paddock views only so on on track stuff in this one, to each their own.

What was the problem with the Corvette in the first session? Any idea why the RISI Ferrari didn`t leave the pits in the first practice and is still stationary 30 mins into the second?

Hindy said the Vette either had contact or some other failure which caused them to call out the flatbed for it. As for RISI, Shea Adam has been saying they've had dramas all day, but hadn't asked anyone on the team whats wrong yet.

Racer had loose wheel or suspension issues for Vette, Risi just in garage but brand new car to them with only a shakedown prior to the event, WeatherTech had fuel seal issues and a fire that cost them most of the day
But at least it doesn't sound like GTP issues as of yet. I'd expect Ganassi to move up as they just finished the cars it seems. Action Express in 58th seems odd but they ran 4 laps so have to wonder if there's new bits to the Caddy |

Sounds like Action Express took the hammer to the gearbox and righted the shifting issues this morning but still only ran 31 laps. And 6 Porsche had a wheel bearing replacement
Service has resumed as scheduled, MSR (Helio 1m35:210 va Braun 1m35:635 am), WTR, 01 Ganassi top 3. GTD and GTD Pro running with each other as scheduled. Pros in the GTD cars set fastest times both sessions, 75 late session and 44 in the morning. https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/c...n-top-at-roar/ |

The Corvette hit a wall, according to DSC the steering wheel came off in Jordan Taylor's hands. As for Risi, apparently they had some late arriving parts and were working on integrating them.

That is bizarre, can't remember hearing of a steering wheel coming off before in a gt car.

Some interesting insights here from Bourdais. GTPs being cautious in traffic because they don't have any spare bodywork. LMP2 best under braking. Could make for some tricky racing.

This would be the 40th anniversary of Henn's Porsche 935 victory at D24. (I felt one of my spells coming on at the idea of something forty years ago) |

I was noticing that all the cars seem happy being in the 1:35 range. I'm certain they can wring out some more time if necessary. Makes me wonder if they will choose to push in qualifying tomorrow if the weather is good. |

Acuras 1-2 again, hoping the others will find a bit more pace to make a race of it next weekend.

VP challenge race gave me a nice racing fix for the day, I liked the new scoring gantry graphics that IMSA is using, assuming these will be the same across all the IMSA series? Not a big fan of that giant roundel though, hehe.
Also, weathertech practice sessions are mobbed! Amazing to see! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvsMTOh9Yok Credit to MidKnightR1 for the video. Last edited by Nick Woodbury; 21 Jan 2023 at 23:35. |

Looks like they are finally embracing widescreen and HD.
But yes, ditch the massive logo. |
