I think the best thing would be to have only 1 grid for the 1000c screamers only. On my opinion they represent the top f3 cars, and they are the most beautiful ones.
Maybe a good thing would be to have the screamers in the 2010 and the 1600/2000 in the 2012. Mixing all of them would result in a poor show. |

You also need to submit photos, plus a cheque or credit card number! Being generous people the ACM refund you (in February or whenever the selection is made) if your entry is refused! Once they have announced the format for 2010 the best would be to write to the ACM and say you are interested in getting an entry form. |

The 1000cc guys need to get their act together so that they can guarantee a full grid (this means 50 entries at least!). You will have to get a car Enrico! I am playing the Devil's Advocate as I am also a great fan of 1000cc F3, but as I see it they can come up with big grids once every few years (this year at the BH Superprix?) but the average turn out for 1000 F3 is 5 or 6, and always the same enthusiasts, Swiss, French, German, some UK - no Italians although there must be masses of cars there. In fact there are a couple for sale in Italy on the FJ website. And frankly these cars must be fun to drive anywhere, not just in Monaco. The only thing that worries me is their reliability, they seem to be in pieces most of the week-end! |

Actually I already own a F3 1000cc car : it's the ex John Miles, ex Gold Leaf team Lotus, Lotus 41X . The car needs total restoration and I would really love to have it ready for Monaco, but the worldwide economic situation hasn't helped me at all. Hope better times will come. A close friend of mine has recently acquired a BWA, type 324, 1967. It has been totally restored by an ex works team mechanic and it looks like a "Peter Denty's job"!! I think he will inted to enter his car at Monaco if a grid for 1000cc cars will organized. |

Understand Jean Sage is very ill. What is the actual position as he is one of Motor Racing's great eccentric characters and know he can be a pain in the A... but not a bad bloke.

Obviously I hope there will be a race for the F3 1.6 ... I believe it would be interesting also for the pubblic to see a grid of little winged cars with so different shapes but similar performances (even if I will be the last on the grid!).
The f3 1000 screamers are fantastic racing cars (even if are looking like last FJ and F1 1.5 ...) and could make a great show thanking also to the incredible noise! |

Great if some more 1000cc cars come out - I trust the organizers will address the reliability issue. I cannot understand why the cars should not be as reliable as FJ if they limit the revs to 9000 like FJ. The blocks must be stronger as they have standard bores (one of my FJ blocks started coming apart last year) and at 9000 rpm they should be able to run normal pistons, not screamer pistons. They had a really good series going in France 10 or more years ago but it just got out of control and people started dropping out. There was even a Matra F3 (Patrick Jamin I think). They are indeed wonderful cars and the best race I ever witnessed in my life was the F3 race on BH Grand Prix circuit late in 1969. Peterson, Fittipaldi, Wissell, Schenken, Jaussaud, Mazet - the list goes on, it makes my hair stand on end! Even the race at the Gold Cup last year was fantastic and there were only about 3 cars in it.

I will try to find out tomorrow night at the ACM when we have our monthly club meeting/booze up. He is indeed quite a character and I think he has a lot more friends than he thinks he has!

Just got an email from the ACM to announce that at the next historic GP they will run two F3 races, one for 1000cc and the other for 1600/2000 cc up to 1984 (ie the French cut off date).
Official text is: The 7th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, event which takes place every 2 years, two weeks before the Monaco F1 Grand Prix, will take place on May 8th and 9th, 2010. For this new edition the Formula Junior cars (1958 - 1963) will be replaced by Formula 3, 1000cc, 1600cc and 2000cc, built and raced prior to 31/12/1984. This edition will be distributed into 8 races: • Race A - Pre 1947 Voiturettes and Grand Prix cars • Race B - Front engined Grand Prix cars (1947 - 1960) • Race C - Pre 1953 Sports cars • Race D - Formula 3, 1000 cc (1964 - 1970) • Race E - Rear engined Grand Prix cars (1954 - 1965) • Race F - Formula 1 (1966 - 1974) • Race G - Formula 1 (1975 - 1978) • Race H - Formula 3, 1600 cc and 2000 cc (1971 - 1984) All the best Marcus |

And how much would someone expect to pay to enter into the Monaco F3 race?

I would guess, somewhere between £3000 and £5000
Plus travel... Plus accomodation... etc. etc. etc. but... if you want to to it, and you can afford it, then you've GOT to do it. ... if your entry is accepted. (I reckon the Safir would stand a reasonable chance) |

Yes Carlo, I have raced there several times, including on the original 8 km track which was the best I have ever done. The "new" track is fine, first corner and last 3 corners were on the old track. You can stay in Royat, a thermal centre between Clermont Ferrand and the circuit, full of old age pensioners so you should feel at home. Sort of French version of Spa. Not sure on the gearing, but about the same as Spa without the stupid chicane rubbish at the end. Medium fast. There is an uphill "hairpin" however. It is a very natural circuit. Weather can be damp!
Best regards Marcus |

Just out of interest what licence does one need to race at Monaco Historique? Would an Int C be the minimum?

There is some information on that aspect on www.acm.mc under Pre-regulation
It requires International licens, but I think that can be an EU-licens as well, if I read that correct. Best regards Henrik |
