Joyce George should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Nope, Jags came in Straight 6, V6, V8 & V12. Current Daimler is a straight 6 The old V8 Sovereign was written off by a speeding prat last March (it became a SWB). Found Daimler on internet - straight 6 is less tempermental for frequent stops & starts, doesnt sound quite as good tho!!! it is VERY comfy for sitting in all day, however

Yes my interest in Jags never really extended past the Mk 2 and E-Type to be honest in the period I ran a garage business and worked on them a lot so I dont know much about the later models. Did you know the Daimler 250 engine shares pistons with a truimph motorcycle? I found this out years ago when rebuilding one and the storeman told me, a fraction of the price and the same item!

I think you are right Al, I dont think there was an old V8 Jag. I think the only V8s are the new ones. Mind you, old and new are all relative terms.

Yup! Pistons were the same bore but slightly more "domed", they raised the compression ratio, giving it s bit more power!

Just heard from Bernie this is going to be a big one! So far he has confirmed 32 entries with only spaces for 6 cars on the grid so if you are thinking of entering I suggest you get in quick. Bernie has promised reserves WILL get another race on the day if they do not get a slot on the grid.

Well this is going Stratospheric! I have just heard we now have 36 cars on the grid including 10 Camaros (never knew there was that many in the country!) and some well known guys entering. Coupled with that MGB V8's, Corvettes, Mustangs, Tigers, Astons etc. Its expected to go into reserves in the very near future. From a rough calculation allowing a very conservative 400bhp per car that equates to a massive 15200 and in fact is probably more like 17000+ horses being unleashed when the lights go green!!!!! Is this a record for a UK club event I wonder??

Now a full grid but as I said before all reserves (if any) will be guaranteed a race on the day.

Hmmmm, might have to add this to my spectating diary, especially as Snet is one of my local circuits (Cadwell is the other, how lucky am I?).

I had forgotten all about the racing superbee! The electrics stopped it just before the old Dunlop bridge at Donington, my post that morning. We willed it to roll down the hill to the next post but it pulled across the grass in front of us. Damn that is one heavy car to push.... After the session driver cranked it over and it fired up straight away and drove back sweet as a lamb to the pits, racecars..... must be female.

What about Freddy Moss and that DeTomaso Mangusta? I remember that animal from the late 80's early 90's Italian Intermarque....

Are either of them still about?

Edited to add : Found the Mangusta on the QV500.com website - back in original road trim (boo!). A shame - it would have been interesting to see that back out racing....

I remember a race at Mallory , he drove up from London, changed a headgasket? qualified out of session, started with a 10sec penalty , let everyone get through gerards 'safely' and was leading within 1.5 laps. awesome car/driver...

I remember Freddy Moss and the Mangusta, it was white with orange "psychedelic" letters on the side that said mangusta? The car was demon, probably the best handling Mangusta ever. He was still careful round Gerrards though. I also remember two very quick modified Lancia Beta's from that series, wonder if they have rusted away...

looks like I am deffinatley about to break my Snetterton duck for this. Damn the circuit has changed! looks nothing like the circuit a remember seeing races from back in the '90s. Anyway, are Bernie and the V8s running on Sunday only? Any special info I should know before I programme the postcode into the satnav?
