Think you know what I'm going to say....
Yes, in my case the scrute didn't even bother to look at my extinguisher... .aaarrrgghhh!! Think the immensely long queues were because they were making very sure this year, that people weren't taking the proverbial... Have to say, IMHO, with such a large number of cars, it would seem to have been better to scrute in situ, say two scrutineers to each paddock 'level'. |

We had the same this year at Spa when we went with CSCC in our Fiat Coupe - fitted everything as stated in the regs and not once did they check anything...
Also happened last month at the Nurburgring - told we had to run a cat converter on our 1979 Lancia Beta so as we do try to do as we're told, Jason took off the silencer and put a cat on - made the car way over normal noise levels but then the limit for the race weekend was 135dbs! Anyway, got to scrutineering full of nerves and this is exactly what they checked: paperwork, chassis number and one helmet. Seriously they didn't check anything else at all. But the way we look at it, we hate issues at scrutineering as it isn't fun having to run around remedying stuff and of course we only do this for fun (as hubby keeps reminding me...). |

Talking of last year, word spread along the queue then about underwear being checked, so we legged it back to HQ to collect ours. When we got back to the car it had been scrutineered and stickers were in place... |

Yes, but is the purpose of the FIA-compliant fire extinguisher/seat/w.h.y. simply to pass some stupid rule dreamed up by the powers-that-be or give you the best possible protection in the event of the worst happening? In which case, never mind if the scrute failed to look at the labels you had the peace of mind brought about by knowing you have the latest technology safety equipment at your finger tips. (Removes tongue from cheek.....) |
