hope you took plenty of pens.
you shouldn't have bothered and told him,
why write a report when you got it on video

Why isn't there a spun and continued tick box?

Because "spun & continued" doesn't require a written report.

I beg to differ, he could be spin and continuing on every corner (or even the straight), do it 3 times and I'd be showing him a black/white or even a black flag.

Yes I would but particularly in a race I would want it backed up in writing in case he goes 'crying' to the Stewards

I do not write up any spin & continued 'phone calls unless requested by RC. I try to remember to ask them during the first such report each day and tell them to let me know when I 'phone in if they need a written. Seems to work at Sillystone.

normally will report a S & C on the 2nd time.
i live under the rule of..
1st time your trying.
2nd time you didn't learn the lesson from the 1st time.
but i keep a log of all S&C's

The problem with that approach is that it doesn't provide the Clerk with the full picture as to what is happening. For instance Dave's post above indicates that a Black and White flag would be shown on the third transgression. If a driver spins once at every corner during a race nothing would be reported using the above process, but a Black and White flag may be appropriate in the circumstances.

But in most cases,
Chief Obs will give instruction at the start of the day

That is my approach also.

Chief Obs/CoC will me tell if/when they get bored of it I'm sure. It is like the all 4 offs. Will write each one up.

My way of working........ (Not necessarily the right way)
Spins......Phone It Every Time
2 wheels/4 wheels off - Whatever I've Been Told At Start Of Day
Contact - Phone and Written
Rule Infringement - Phone & Written
Anything Else - Phone & Whatever Is Asked For

I don't worry about times when completing Major/Serious Incident Forms - this information can be completed by calling RC or (In Some Instances) by the Ch Obs/Clerk - never had a problem with it.

NEVER be afraid to admit that you didn't see it!
Admit that you will sometimes get it wrong!

I've been surprised in the last couple of years that there are many circuits where this isn't common practice. As a clerk I really do struggle to take action without written reports, I'm not sure why there is such a difference between circuits?

And I'm not talking any the scenario where some poor sod is on their own on a post and trying to do everything.
