They run the assumption that if they run with stories often enough, some of them will turn out to be right. (A bit like the 1,000 chimps writing Shakespeare claim). I am regularly involved with situations where Sky journalists have operated on the 'run with the story, then get the facts and find out what the story is' approach. If Sky had been first to break the postponement, you can guarantee they'd tell you every half hour for the next 24 hours that they were first with the news. |

Autosport are saying it has been cancelled, no mention of postponement.

Similar to the comments about Sky above - I hate it when news outlets run unconfirmed stories. "There has been no official confirmation from F1 or governing body the FIA..." |

Radio says officials/marshals have been contacted to say track events are going ahead as scheduled today.

Could easily just be the support activity, which there is lots of. No word on F1 yet.

There are some rumours that Vettel and Raikkonen left Melbourne. I'm not sure if It's true but who knows.

Still no official word from the organisers or the FIA on what is happening. I wonder how much the media actually know or if they are actually just speculating

What a farce !
So worried about the health and well-being of fans that they were happy for them all to crowd on trams to get to the track and stand for hours at locked gates cheek-by-jowl and in each others back pockets only to be turned away. One positive result from 9 tests. If they were so inclined to cancel on just one positive result they should never have come and attended local hotels and cafes before making this call. The official dinner went ahead last night ! Mercedes saying they were concerned for the mental health of their employees and couldn't proceed.! You'd think they'd all slept with typhoid Mary ! Three people were killed yesterday in Melbourne in a knife attack and police shooting of the offender but lets all panic about 1 positive test. I acknowledge that the event should have been cancelled but I think they have shut the gate well after the horse has bolted with this one. The teams have exposed themselves and the public with all that international travel for nothing. Sorry for ranting but I am so disappointed, so much more so because they have cancelled after the fans & everyone has shown faith and travelled and honoured their hotel bookings ! A refund on your ticket is pretty small change ! |

There had been reports of it being held for spectators only. It's good to see the actual news.

It does not feel right to come all this way and abandon it like that. As it said in the post above, kind of bolting the gate after the horse has gone’. It wouldn’t have really made a difference now that they were all there. I fear for what will happen next

Not really. Stopping at any point reduces the further potential for spread.
Anyway, they do seem to be messing around at the end. Accentuated by social media. All very silly. Should they have all got out there. My perception is that if it was called off a couple of weeks ago (what timing was it?) before anyone travelled there it would have been considered an over reaction by many. This is certainly the case for Sebring that was cancelled today. |

Says more about the shambolic decision making and communication - surely the decision was made before 6am this morning? Or before 9am when people at the gate weren't informing fans waiting to get in. Bad news doesn't often get better with time. Why weren't they discussing things last night until a decision was reached?
