Not really daft, but I remember Tissot sponsoring the 1995 Sauber. They planted a giant watch on the nose of the car. That looked a bit odd.

I remember in 1997, when Jordan had the snake in the nose, non-tobacco sponsors would either be Bitten and Hisses or Fisssssssssssssi and Ssssssssschuey.
There's also the Writing Instruments company, Osama, that appeared in the Benettons 91-92 and the Jordan 94... |

Zakspeed used "East" logos in non-tobacco races when they had West as their sponsor. In Hungary 1986, other car had West and other East.

I remember that '94 Suaber--it started the year as one of the prettiest racing cars ever built, and finished uip duabed in those white spots and with those ugly high cockpit sides
Does anyone remember Nokia sponosoring Salo in '95? They had a hand holding a 'phone to his ear painted on the side of his helmet, which I thought was pretty cool. |

Arturo Merzario was sponsored for a race by an undertaker back in 1979. Target advertising?

Well, it is sponsorship money after all! Wouldn't have a problem buying merchandise of that.

Always thought the Asprey & Garrard sponsorship of Ferrari in 1996 was up there as being the most insane. Almost bankrupted the company but the Sultan of Brunei stumped up the cash to bail them out (it had been his personal idea).

There is a car in Donington museum with sponsorship livery by Penthouse and Rizla.
What about the BAR in its first ear, two halves of two different cars paint jobs, zipped together. |

Rizla is cigerette paper. For rollies.
Just out of curiosity are they still allowed to sposor in F1. It isn't tobacco, but isn't used for anything else (hmmm you know what I mean, there isn't any real reason to go into the other uses). Last edited by Adam43; 7 Sep 2003 at 22:55. |

Mens Tenoras is Japanish Menswear company and/or perfume. Sponsored Hideki Noda in F300 with 3001 (now Arena) and then with smaller branding to F1 with Simtek IIRC.
