Isn't Jenson Button still contracted to Williams or has that now expired? Everyone is talking Mark Webber but it could just as easily be Jenson back in the Williams seat.

why stop there? - surely it could be both. DC to Jag, Kimi and Monty at Mac, Ralf and Sato at BAR.

I've gone too far.

I reckon this is starting to look more & more likely. Williams will have to pay to get wbber away from Jag - but Jaguar are known to be looking for money. What if Jaguar end up with Wurz? Maybe even DC too? Hmm - perhaps that is just a little too far.

Anyhow - anyone who likes a bet might like to know that Webber is 200/1 for the WDC.

I think more likely it would be McLaren paying for Webber to leave Jaguar as they would surely have to pay a hefty fee for Monty to leave Williams for 04 and Williams would more or less hand a bit of that on to Flav so really Williams wouldn't lose out at all. Plus McLaren would also need to buy out DC or Kimi which would cost quite a bit as well

Dare I believe?

I would luv to see Mark Webber in that Williams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know he has a contract but contracts can be bought out especially with all the money that top teams have - if Williams want him then they can buy out his contract!

ps - GO DA WALLABIES!

I think I read somewhere that this contract would only stay in place if Button didnt get another F1 drive, so when he signed for BAR the contract became null and void?

Not sure though, can anyway back this up?

I sure that Wiiliams has been talking to a number of drivers. Why does Webber deserve the seat any more than another driver?

Also, keep in mind that Kimi's contract ends in 2004 and he has said he might not be with Mclaren in 2005. How about Williams?

If we are considering pay offs and contract buy outs, it would have been cheaper for Williams to raise JPM's retainer. If Williams is tight with money this move does not make sense for them. Has anyone noticed that Truli's contract is also up at the end of the season and no one mentions his name anywhere?

It would be great for 2004. Why?

1) It shakes up the status quo
2) It allows McLaren to field two fighters
3) It will allow Ralf to develop without 'JPM paranoia'
4) It would give DC to Jag - a good fit
5) It may help Justin Wilson at Jag as well

It may be strange to think that Montoya will spend 2004 already knowing that he's moving on for 2005, but I think that's how it'll be. The various payments for contract severances (for DC, and for Williams to sign a replacement unless they go for JV, which Frank may see as a climbk#down from the past) make anything else unlikely.

Frfank isn't known for paying much to sign or keep drivers either, so the chances of him buying out Webber's contract is pretty remote.

And the chances of him employing JV are also pretty remote, as he won't drive for free.
