KD, that was posted from the heart, and many FF1600 drivers would utterly sympathise with you following the debacle that counted as the King of Kent final at the festival in October. Seems that the BRSCC simply do not learn, and it continues to amaze me that this organisation has the same name as the slickly operated club led by the much missed Jon Nicol......

KD, sorry but I had left before your post arrived yesterday.
There's very little I can say to be honest. You have the access to the timing sheets and so I guess you have a point. As for the Clerk of the Course I cannot comment as I wasn't there and so any comment would be pure conjecture. It seems to me that it would be a good idea to chat to the BRSCC and get their views although there is little that can be done now the day has passed. |

The part that amazes me about all this is that somewhere on tenths there must be some BRSCC Commitee members who read these now frequent stories of total discontent with their performance. That being the case, do these threads not get printed and tabled at the BRSCC along with the message "look boys and girls, this is what our customers think of us and like all commercial businesses if we cannot command the respect of our customers we are going to go under like so many businesses before us"
Surely messages of such gravity along with requests to eradicate the culprits on the day should by now be starting to have some effect. |

Er.. no. They have to use up their allocation of blazers and embroidered shirts. It seems to be a bit like complaining about your solicitor.
Anyway, at 9.20 I put a call in to John Ward at the BRSCC. I left a message for him to call me when he arrived in the office. |

I can tell you that senior officials from ALL the major clubs read these posts and so I asusme that some of the comments will be brought up at future meetings. However, it is extremely unlikely that any senior official will comment in such a forum for obvious reasons.
I would have thought your best bet would be to take the matter up with the relevant club or better still, make your views known at the next AGM? |

Why should I have to make my views known at an AGM?
Surely, as in any other business a debrief would be carried out post race, and staff performances reviewed. Therefore, the team on the day must be aware of their successes and shortcomings. (polite word for F**k ups). Or am I living in a dream world where normal business rules only apply to the planet Earth? How about this for a mad idea. The BRSCC send all their customers a customer satisfaction survey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If enough people sent them back, they might make such a big pile that they may even be able to spot them fron their ivory tower. LOL |

I think the problem with sorting it out post race or post meeting is the time factor. Certainly in the case of the C of the C he/she could be there until late in the evening if there are judicial matters to sort out. Remember that Clerks etc are volunteers too!
My suggestion of the AGM was that your view would definately be heard as it's a public meeting and presumably your comments would have to be minuted? Why not see what John Ward has to say when he returns your call as that may settle the situation for you? |

Satisfaction surveys are a good idea but generally end up just being treated as a PR exercise by most companies rather than an instrument for future improvement.
I suspect competitors jamming the phones on a Monday morning with well reasoned and constructive complaints about the poor service you received as a paying customer would get any point across more visibly. |

I should perhaps apologise here for making a mountain out of a molehill, but perhaps not as it cost probabably in the region of £3000 -£3200 for that weekend, and to have a major part of it compromised uneccesarily is very frustrating.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for the BRSCC to get back to me....... Yawn. |

I've spoken to John Ward who had to agree that it was a bit of a strange decision. He wants me to put it in writing, which I will when I've a moment.
The more i think about it, the more ridiculous it appears to me. |

Interesting conundrum this.....
We only get 15 mins qualifying and know that it may get shortened for whatever reason so we leave the pits, one slow lap to warm things up and then are "on it" the first time we pass the finish line..... Which means that a) the tyres, brakes, engine aren't quite up to temp b) the driver ain't quite 100% up to speed or fully in sync with the track conditions... Most of the time this is OK and we get away with it, but sometimes it all goes pearshaped and folk go off... If we KNEW that we would get the full session regardless of what happens, maybe there wouldn't be the pressure to put in a fast one on the second or third lap and the end result would be LESS stoppages..... |

Yes,
I agree, thats what it's normally like, it's just that in this case the weather was so atrocious, you were literally risking it all without knowing what the track conditions were like as there was so much standing water.... which is why the session was red flagged as a car had chucked it off. |
