I agree with the education factor by TV announcer eams, and the way NASCAR is telecast here in the States.....
Not only do they show the cars throughout the field with info about how they have run that day, changes they plan to make in the pits, etc., but they have the "Sample Car" with cut-aways and a former NASCAR team manager or driver who walks you through visually the elements that the announcers are talking about on car set-ups, how they make changes, etc.... A monkey could watch NASCAR for a month and byt the 1st of the next month understand what the chassis is about.... Spotscar racing could benefit from such education of their audiejnces... |

Anybody that has been exposed to Radio Le Mans can only dream of having that coverage attached to television feed. They are everywhere, covering everything. So many different things make up the fabric of a race, and it is so cool to know those things. Television coverage of sports cars here in US has gotten better over the years, but boy could we have so much better. But it all comes down to the same thing--money. NASCAR coverage can afford all the 'extras' they have, becuase thiry seconds of commercial time is worth more the all the commercial time SPEED had during Petite Le Mans (I may have exagerated, but the proportions are probably pretty close) |

That would be on a good day! I have no regrets at all, except that there isn't enough time to spend with them. To let everyone know, I always had ear plugs for my children when I took them to the races, and we sometimes had squables about keeping them in place. Engines sounds are not very good for young ears, especially at close range. |
