I've been averaging about 70-80 days a year give or take - but that will be cutting down this year. I'm getting more selective about who I marshal for and intend to only go to well run events where people's contributions are appreciated.

Tracey should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
So far never less than 50 days a year (except maybe the year I got injured and couldn't marshal for far too long!) One year I tried to cut down - and ended up doing more. I think the most I've done in a year is 86, but I found I ended up getting bored of marshalling! Haven't decided what I'm doing this year - will be quite a lot as I'm doing several disciplines, so won't get bored.

Don't try to contact me at home - I'm never there!

To bring some balance to this. I'm at the other end of the scale and put in about 20 -25. Family, work etc.

I'm with Tango n Crash on this. I can't do any more due to family committments.

However, has anyone ever worked out how many meetings they have done since they started?

I can't boast of very many (due to the family) per year, but given my number of years I reckon this must add up to around 400. I'm sure this is a very lowly total compared to many of you out there. How many have you done in your "career" as a marshal? Does anyone keep an exact total?

I marshal half as often as I'd like and twice as often as I should! Or too often according to some of my colleagues!

oh, about 30 days or so. I used to marshal between 50-70 but the rest of my life got in the way and then the local track was de-sanctioned. The next closest track is 5 hours away so 30 is a pretty good number.

He, he, beardy, that sounds like my definition - a few less than I'd like, and a few more than my wife would like is the usual compromise, although now she's discovered the orange side for herself, it might go up by a few.

As for how many since I started? Phew, what a question.
Started with a few hillclimbs and spirnts per year in 1988, then to ciruits in 1990.
13*35+2*10 would be a reasonable guess, plus a few rallies before that, approx 475-500.

That's astonishing. Reckon I can remember about a couple of dozen at a push....

Woolley - Yep - its pretty astonishing when you think about the total number of days spent marshaling. And yes you're right - its only a couple of handful of days which stick out. Still most of them must have been OK as I keep going back for more...

aprescott has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Lets see....... 52 weeks in a year, so thats 104 weekend days and so if we take it that the main bulk of racing is done between March and November (9 months) which gives you 78 weekend days per year....... hum that is a lot of commitment to give, nothing wrong with that but I would like to have a life outside work and the race track so I'll be doing about 30 days.
