well, i think the old 'did van der merwe win by default?' arguement comes into play here. it's obvious that f1 teams and manufacturers are scouting around for the best talent and if they weren't interested...

Well Hynes (other than his Renault prize) and Kerr didnt test either. Im surprised though, Van Der Merwe seems to have the backing/contacts. You'd have though at the very least Sutton would have found him something

By the way what is the deal with the British F3 Champion not moving up to bigger better things, also What did Kerr do last year besides that Lola Dome thing. Nothing I read about, but I am out of the loop.

Mike Spencer from Formula Renault - proved last year that with the right team he could be in contention for the title this year + Jamie Morrow, also from Formula Renault, who tested with Manor last December and was described by them as someone who with track time could surprise a lot of people.
Jamie missing because he has no budget, I assume the same for Mike. A real sahme for both of them. |

Rob Bell is one of the most talented drivers out there and is a proper bloke, not one of these young puffs. Hes not far off a full budget, probably for Renault V6

Anyone know what Colin Brown is doing - always seemed odd that a karting WC appears to have struggled to find the funding - connections?

Well I think he's gone as far as he can in single seaters so it's logical. As you say the prize is worth it and a driver of rob's ability should have a great chance, which is probably the way he sees it

Keohane should get something, as far as I know he's always been reasonably well funded.
