O'Schumacher should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pole2Pole

I absolutely agree. Michigan 2000. Montoya & Andretti swapped the lead for the 1st 50 laps or so(twice every lap) and then found themselves together at the end. Ben Edwards & Jeremy Shaw giving it some welly on the mics. FAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC.

The Japanese GP of 94 was good too. Murray screaming "Three point three six seconds. Damon Hill wins the Japanese Grand Prix!"

I've just bought a video in one of the charity shops up the road - "murray's motorsport spectacular" or something like that - all the different commentating that Murray Walker has done over the years and his best commentating...have to say it's rather good.

Some of the vintage action on the Murray videos is not actually from the time.

But it's relatively easy to tell the difference.

There's footage of the Mercedes W-whatevers and some vintage Jim Clark on this video, and it's blatantly obvious that Murray did the voiceovers specially for the video - that kind of annoys me.

But still, it's good to remember what we had BA (before Allen)

That Motorsport Spectacular video is supereb, epsecially the Touring Car racing. My favourite quotes ont ehre are probably "hell hath no fury like a woman rammed!", when Nettan Lindgren runs over to Jonathan Palemer to argue about the crash they'd just had, and "the car upsdie down is a Toyota" after Will Hoy flipped one after contact with team-mate Julian Bailey at Silverstone in 1993.

I loved the commentary for the 1997 European Grand Prix. Everything about that weekend was spectacular. There was Martin Brundle's memorable line: "that didn't work, you've hit the wrong part of him my friend. I don't think that's going to cause Villeneuve any problems." Great foresight that Brundle.

Talking of flipping one, when John Cleand flipped the bird at the car in front, Murray instantly cleaned it up by saying "Yes, he's saying, You're first, but I want that place!"

Of course, that's what he meant murray!
It seems no matter what gesture a driver made, Murray could instantly PG-ise it in case any children were watching!

Shame that the first race Murray ever missed (France 2000) DC did some very rude things, and Murray wasn't around to provide the REAL translation, so everyone took the rude version!

Ralf has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Murray made some great noises.

Schumacher taking out Coulthard in Argentina 1998
"Ohhh-Ohhh-Ohhh!"

Hakkinen spinning off into the wall in 99 (race?)
"Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh"

Hill winning in the Jordan
"Damon Hill wins..... FAAAAAAANTASTIC!"

When Hakkinen went backwards in the wall at Hockenheim 99 (I think?) whilst an interview with DC was in progress.
"Get back here!"

But Spa '98 was Murray's best.

Martin while Irvine was missing a wheel in a pitstop.
"Don't have a commitee meeting about it. Stick it on!"

Wurz trying to re-pass Schumi at Monaco 98
"No Alex, don't be silly!...... I gotta say that was brilliant"

One of my favourite moments was provided by James Hunt during the closing minutes of the 1982 Monaco GP.

"We're all waiting here at the start/finish line for a winner to come past, but we don't seem to be getting one!"

I hate it when James Allen shouts 'Rock and Rollllll' at virtually every race meeting these days!

This is a best commentary thread - the words "James Allen" don't fit very comfortably here!!

Thinking of that - I love that Sun story with the headline "Diniz in the oven" - classy!

For me its go to be the Adelaide race where Mansell lost his wheel down the straight, something like,

" ..and LOOK, That's MANSELL!!"

with the word, look, said in a higher pitch - like a yelp.

Great commentary that race.
