I'm waiting for the paperback...but it should be interesting to read what someone with no vested interest in treading carefully says. One of the best books on F1 was written by a journo with no prior or future involvement in the sport and so he could write what he liked (Ted Simon, The Chequered Year, following March in 1970). |

Well said I say, from someone who has been in the environment for a decade, not just a couple of years like Turner... |

Beverly was useless not because of her image, but because she knew absolutely nothing about the sport. I barely noticed she was gone until all this book stuff came to light, having read that extract it just looks silly. If the world of F1's so horrible why does she hang around after leaving that job and try to slag it off instead of just going and concentrating on motherhood, supposedly the reason she left in the first place.
It's just lame. The second article says it all, and forms a contrast in views that makes Turner's look really, deeply ****. |

Beverley Turner is on BBC Radio 2's Johnnie Walker's Drivetime show to give her side any minute now...
Listen online: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2 To read about last year's GP Party click here. This was one of her jobs when she mixed with pretty much everyone in F1. |

She's "walking away from F1".

She may be selling a book, but here experiences are very much what you would expect from F1, based on my experiences as a fan!
Edit. Not talking about the sexism, but the high and migthy attitude etc. Last edited by JAG; 14 Jul 2004 at 17:58. |

She was spouting blatent false info to try and drive home her point. Apparently tickets for Silverstone cost £190 for the weekend although they "did drop the prices later on when they realised they needed to sell more". Funny then that I booked up my 3 days back in Febuary for £90. The whole interview left me feeling very angry!

The review of the book in Motorsport sums it up for me.

Looks like GrandPrix.com have the right idea. Read "Eff One"'s rant part-way through his column. He's right and she's wrong.

Beverley Turner is the reason why airhead, egotistical, self-promoting presenters who know nothing about F1 (she admitted that much) should never be allowed into the sport in the first place.
She was the epitomy of ITV's attempt to attract a "wider audience" by treating all viewers as if they're stupid (or to put it another way, to bring everyone down to Beverley's level). It's a shame Johnny Walker's too much of a gentleman to have told her precisely what I'm sure he was thinking. |

She said something that was quite interesting. She pointed out that she was brought in because they thought the program was only aimed at the enthusiast. This was something I'd never noticed!
However even taking this seriously it is short sighted. What happens if you bring a newcomer in and they become an enthusiast? Then the program isn't for them. Anyone who wants to learn will find out naturally and by themselves. Knowledge gained by this method is more valuable than knowledge stuff down your throat in a childish manner. |

Why end a thread on one of the most powerful and influential people in F1 history? Are you all stupid?
Don't you know who Beverley Turner actually is? |

According to report in this mornings paper she's now in talks to turn her book into a film!
BTW:Has anyone actually read the book yet,as opposed to newspaper extracts? Is there anything in it worth reading or looking at? |
