I might get one of these things, better than a big pile of CDs. Plus you can shove random pictures on there aswell, as well as the categorised ones.

I think you should have two back-ups, one, preferrably, off-site..

I'm looking into the mechanics of long term storage onto tape drives as opposed to DVD and/or large hard drives.. They're robust, don't fail if knocked or dropped and may have better longevity over DVD..

I currently do 1 back-up to cd and another 2 to two different makes of dvd. Just for good measure I then store the originals to an external usb drive!!!

Paranoid or what!!!????

The thing I find most annoying is the cds and dvds cost the most AND take up the most room, whereas hard drives are cheap (per gig) and small. Trouble is I don`t trust them.......

Ahh yes but David makes a good point, if you keep all of the backups in your house your limiting your options should you be unlucky enough to have a fire or a major robbery.
