Because they have nothing to lose if they need to change their engines - they'd still be in the back rows anyway! Also, if the smaller teams are the only ones on the track then this is their chance to monopolise TV coverage (as come race day there won't be much focus on them) and this benefits the sponsors. |

Liuzzi has a bit of a problem. Sure, he seems quick over a lap or two but I'd be surprised if his job is to throw the thing in the gravel every second weekend. Surely the idea is to rack miles of on the non race car..... not much of a team player it would seem,

F1's all about pressure.
You're either applying it or under it. That may explain why Felipe Massa wanted to do a "flier".... |

From what ive seen the guys are just coasting on the straights..... definately conserving the engines....
But what i dont understand is why Zonta and De la Rosa set such slow times..... I thought they would be flying as they dont have to conserve anything.... |

Well Zonta set a decent time in the second practice. I guess you don't have to set the time sheets alight to gain good data. In theory they should only be running race pace.
Looking at the times from P1, Zonta, de la Rosa and Luizzi were the quickest three! Last edited by Adam43; 18 Mar 2005 at 09:12. |

You don't think Ferrari would let Rubens in the F2005 before Michael?

According to planetf1.com, Peter Sauber is quoted as saying that Villeneuve and Massa were running wildly differing fuel loads and tyre choices in the second session:

Like Rick said, he had a suspension failure. quote from Liuzzi after practice 2: "Overall it was a good day for us. During the first session we showed that we can be pretty quick but unfortunately in the second I had a suspension failure, which caused me to spin in the corner before the last, and I had to stop. But overall the car seems quite good and I think we are in good shape again for the race. David and Christian have some more time in the car in the morning and I think we have enough information to choose the tyres and get a good set-up for tomorrow." |
