Renault will allow their two drivers to battle among themselves though.

That's the difference.

Also the two drivers are much more evenly matched....at Ferrari i think MS is miles ahead of Rubens....so a dominant car means no championship fight...

and im sure Flav will let them duel it out even though he seems to "adore" Alonso...

It is in Renault's best interests to keep it fair - Ferrari don't seem to mind coming off as the bad guy all the time.

Like it was said up there - not a problem if one team is dominating as long as the two drivers have a good crack at each other it's not so bad.

But look at the two Williams versus Ralf's Toyota - it doesn't matter who wins necessarily.

Since Flavio's Alonso's manager, it's definately in his best interest to allow a bit of favourism to go Fernando's way.

Not forgetting it was he who gave Michael the lead guy treatment in the Benetton days. I don't know if it will be so free for Fisichella to fight Fernando...though I doubt he'd be asked to pull over completely as Barrichello/Irvine had to at Ferrari.

(I don't recall Brundle, Patrese, Herbert etc. pulling over, not that they were often in that position)

I dunno, I thought Brundle raced better than Schumi on many occasions in 92. Why he was dropped for 93 in favour of Patrese is something I still don't understand. It turned out to be a disaster for them too!

Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
so far this year things have gone just as I thought they would even though is still very early in the year

The mian thing I though would happen was the fall of BAR (compared to last year ) and the rise of Toyota

the biggest shock to me so far is Ferrari but I think the Tyres are they down fall this year so far and the new car will help but not much there just to far behind

Martin writes in his latest book that two or three times a year Flavio comes and apologises - that if he knew how good Schumi was going to be he never would've sacked him! Brundle claims he was the victim of a power struggle between Flavio and Walkinshaw...

Favouring one driver over another begins long before the lights go green.

A disaster for Patrese more like. Having signed for Benetton he could have torn up his contract and stayed at Williams when Mansell walked off. He didn't for two reasons: 1) he's an honourable man and to him a contract is a contract, 2) Benetton emphasised how important he was to their programme and that they wanted him in the team.

It would be nice if Briatore would apologise to Patrese.

Off topic, but does this season seem eerily the same as 1994?

first three races, a young rising star in a Benneton (Renault) dominates and takes the championship by the scruff of its neck, while the proven champion struggles to find the pace that has been the highlight of his career.

NO WAY am i saying that anything will happen as it did in 1994 (although I do hope that the Williams driver (Hill, 94-Webber, 05) takes the championship back and fights to the bitter end.

just an observation i thought was a little wierd.
