MrMW should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I think its sad that the numbers have all but dissapeared. I would like to see large numbers back and some of the tradition that used to go with them. i am sure we can all remeber the ferraris 27 & 28, Barry Sheene No7 and of course we can never forget RED 5

Nintendo has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
strange one, this. Never really noticed it. Numbers used to be big massive things, but they've sort of collapsed under the weight of the many sponsors they need.

I think the Jordans used to be the worst for this.
But really - all the cars are so different colours that you don't really need the numbers on the cars. The colour of the camera on the car differentiates between the two drivers of each team. (for most teams - not sure about Ferrari)

Car numbers

F-1 cars are by far the hardest cars to see or even find a number on, they just don't want to give up the space on the car.

True - the marketing whores make sure that all available space is used to tout their wares.
Bring back the days when F1 was about racing, not marketing.

Also for Ferrari.
It's part of the 2005 Sporting Regulations, article 60.

The text of that article has been quoted (or described) earlier in this thread.

Unfortunately, the rules do not dictate the teams to have a colour which is different from the other teams.
Remember the year in which Jordan and Minardi were using the same yellow colour?

Well - I think that the minardi one was more a puke yellow than Jordan and it was quite easy to tell them apart. But I do know what you mean yes.
Plus the fact they were going a hell of a lot slower (back in them days anyhow) made it easier to spot - that was the good old days of jordan lapping the minardis!

Everyone was predicting that 1998 would be awful, with the Ferrari and the Williams having very similar colour schemes. Perhaps it was a good thing that the Williams was uncompetitive or Murray Walker would've probably exploded!

Okay - they both had red elements - but it was quite easy to spot the difference to be honest.

I'm sure Murray 'Commentating God' Walker would have had no problem.

But also remember which direction you are looking at when viewing a car, back when Toyota first started, I often confused them with the BAR from front on (both basically white) especially when you have less than a second of reaction time and they're doing 250kph plus straight at you. (Oh the joys working trackside )

Totally agree with post #32 by Red2, F1 has become far too poltically and money oriented. Stating the obvious, I know.
