Yeah, when I went to LA a few years ago, it was typical English weather when we arrived...

Got some nice weather while we were there though, and I can't wait to go back one day.

How about popping along to your local grass track and trying out some theory there?

Before I began doing oval racing photography "properly" I took a few trips to tracks up at Telford and somehere near Malvern and got some really good stuff from the spectator areas. Some of the less popular tracks may well be more than grateful for some decent photography and may let you on to the infield to get some pics too - assuming there isn't already a resident photographer... Just send them some pics afterwards for their publicity and you will be fine.

Unfortunately at the stadium ovals (Stock cars etc) there is debris fencing all over the place which doesn't help, but Autograss tracks are much less obtrusive. Just make sure you have a big lens!

That said, I used to quite like the skill involved at the circuits trying to get pictures over the debris fencing or in between posts and marshalls. I got some good pics at Silverstone (normally the worst place to get decent pics) during a test day once, standing on an upturned bin!

Jaxs has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
A reply from Nikon , not a lot I can say about that.

Thank you for the suggestion which I will pass on to our Professional support group.

Owners of professional equipment who register are eligible for offers and have information on up and coming activities, more information on our professional user scheme can be found here:

When I got my 10D just over a year ago, the weekend after I had nothing on and ended up popping along to Harewood Hillclimb as there was an event on there, looking back now the pictures aren't great but gave me some idea's on what I could do with it, that was good learning experience.
