I'm sort of hoping That German Fellow wins the title and then retires. I quite like MS but his leaving would bring a fresh interest with the likelihood of first-rate driver/team combinations and talented rookies in race wining machines.

Off topic, but how could Michael leaving generate more interest? Wouldn't that, in a sense, diminish interest because of the gazillions of fans he has may not be as interested? Further, even if he does leave, there won't be a single "talented rookie" in any race-winning seat. Whatever the shuffle is will leave only proven winners in the top-tier seats.
Opportunities for rookies will only come bottom to mid-grid. |

It's going to be interesting.
I really don't think that the Mass Dampers, if they will return will help Renault to the extent some believe. I believe that Ferrari has progressed to this point and has the best car out there regardless. In addition, as far as MS needing to win the remain 5 races, why do many assume FA will come in 2nd at the remaining races? |

My money is on Schumacher.
Ferrari and Bridgestone have the upper hand for the next 2/3 races and by then the 10 points gap wont exist anymore. Last 2 races will be to see who is mentally stronger and I think Schumacher is stronger and also a lot more experienced and that will play a key roll to giving Schumacher the title. |

However, after the mass damper decision today, I'm going to say what I though the original post was meant to say. I think the FIA and Ferrari will win the championships. But I shall be cheering on Alonso and Renault in the hope that they can overcome the odds that have now been stacked against them. |

Unfortunately it would appear that the FIA's money is on Schumacher. |

Had MS used his brain and gone for the percentage option by settling for a sensible points score in the last race rather than the all-risk option, I would be saying he's odds on to win the WDC.
However, I think now it's a case of Alonso loosing the championship rather than MS being able to win it. I think it will go down to the wire though...... |

On the other hand if you are suggesting HK, GP and LH are not talented or Renault and McLaren are not race winning cars, I have no argument. |

I will be picking Shoemaker, although I hope Alonso manages to keep it from him.

Schumi can be in the lead of the Championship as early as Monza. If he gets into the lead, he won't be letting it go.

At the moment you would have to say Schumacher. It looks like being a Ferrari 1-2 tomorrow, and of course Schumacher would lead it. But considering Renault have an engine upgrade and will be striving to improve their car, it is hard to call.

Well, with 4 and not 5 races left, Alonso increased advantage by 2 points, and Renault improved their performance on a track were Bridgetones were clear favourites.
Anyone reconsiders Alonso now? |

It was pure Alonso really though. Renault were still nowhere in comparison to the Ferrari's.
But it has made the odds a little more favourable for Fernando now. |

It's a completly different story now. Unless Micheal can take a seriously big bite of of Alonso's lead, then Fernando could take the title at Japan...
