Oh you're so kind UDB, you remember them so well from my T-shirt at anglesey
I'd also have to remove my passenger airbags to my rear too!! You see a beginner would need all the help she can get, and I need a ruddy miracle |

The reason the Saxo carrys more weight under 750mc tech regs is because the gearing is so long in them. This is a major advantage on fast race circuits like Silverstone etc but a distinct disadvantage in Rallycross where there are only short straights. This is where it is very dangerous to presume 750mc circuit regs will work in Rallycross. Two very different disiplines. These kind of issues should be examined carefully to ensure no particular make of car or person is handicapped, Metro, Saxo, Heavyweight drivers etc. |

Matti is correct, they do need carefull examination. As I said previously, it is important to try and create a level playing field but there also needs to be flexibility within the regs for the owners of the regs to amend weights if it becomes obvious that some make/models are siginificantly faster in most drivers hands.

I Have To Agree With Turbod, I Was At Croft 2 Weeks Running And There Were At Least 3 In The Stock Hatch That Could Spin Both Wheels At The Same Time. The Go From The Back Of The Grid To First Place Before The First Corner, Yet No Cars Were Striped Or Checked. It Looks Like You Have To Cheet To Win In Stock Hatch

If you are suspicious bring it to the attention af officials at the event and/or lodge a protest, it is no good just putting things on forums for people to mutter on about, you would only have to catch one and that would put a stop to it.

Just to put the record straight, a number of cars have had their diffs checked during the year, and all were found to be within the rules. It is not always necessary to strip something down to check it's legality. And some of the cars that had their diffs checked are those which "rumour" suggested were illegal.
However, as Steve and Bigted rightly say, put your money down. In the last few years I am aware that only two technical protests have been formally lodged, and neither were upheld. |

I agree that there is no point moaning if you aren't prepared to 'name names'. However its a bit worrying that stock hatch seems to attract quite a lot of moaning!
There is a perception (right or wrong) that organisers aren't really that interested in policing the SH regs properly - and thats not doing the category any favours... |

to quote a famous movie
" To win in Indy I'd need a great car, but stock cars are all the same." "There's nothing stock about a stock car." "I'm not trying to insult you, but stock cars are built to run equal" |

The top drivers will always be at the front - that's what makes them the top drivers. Also regarding the cars - stock hatch limits what you can do but even within the class there is a big difference in how much has been done to the cars - spend more money, have a better car still applies in stock hatch. After a certain point you're spending more and more to gain less of an improvement - so it does depend on how much you're willing to spend. Some of the stock hatches are very stock whilst others push the rules all the way to the limit in the search for an extra tenth.

I would have to agree with silver on those points. Some people find it very hard to stomach that there is just better drivers out there than them and that even if they where put in one of these "top cars" chances are they would still struggle to match the pace. I know that double driving doesn't happen in the UK but it is interesting to see in Ireland how one driver usually always out performs the other with they lads who do double drive.
The weight limits in IRXC have definatley made things closer this year at the last round I think pole was decided by only 0.5 of a sec and the heats have become more competitive in genral. |

With Steve winning on both these weekends and after having come from the back of the grid to the front before the 1st corner, he is presuming the accusation is aimed at him. His results this year have come from consistently good driving and certainly not from being "a cheat". Steve would have had no objections to the car being checked over on the day. It is very disheartening to think that people might have this opinion when he has put a lot of time and effort into this years championship. mrsheppy |

Yes, I doubt if there is any more cheating in stockhatch than anywhere else but there always seems to be the perception that its there - which is unfair on people like Steve who have done a fantastic job this year. I just wonder if there could be some tightening up on scrutineering to stop the complaining?
Even in a stock formula you need to spend a lot of time/money on ensuring your car is prepped to the max to get the final ten-tenth. Cars with scrapper engines are always going to get beaten by the top cars. The only way you can really stop this is to adopt 'folkrace' regs - people won't spend too much if they have to sell their car off cheaply and make it available to other drivers. |

I Am Sorry If I Have Offended Anyone But I Thought A Standard Diff Could Spin 1 Wheel Not Both, What Can You Do To A Standerd Diff Can You Tighten It Up In Anyway? I Know There Are People Out There That Are Better Drivers And Have Better Cars. Maybe I Was A Bit Harsh In Saying "cheat", Maybe They Could Do The Same As Btcc If You Win You Get Weight Added To Your Car, It Would Be Nice If It Was Realy Close Racing,

All a diff does is put the drive to the wheel with the least resistance, therefore if a car is set up properly you can spin both wheels, the quick junior mini's can manage it as well.
We have only done 3 events this year and know we are not on the pace but are confident where we need to look to make up the difference. 1 go to a rolling road (possible engine re build) 2 set the car up better 3 do some testing 4 have more good luck than bad. As for cheating I don't think any one is but no doubt the rules may be interpreted in different ways |

You can get a standard diff to spin both wheels if the corner weights are set up correctly!! (not like a LSD but they will both spin)
But most stock hatch will spin the n/s front wheel due to the engine location from the start line.. When building grasstrack cars corner weights are even more critical as you have little to no grip but still have to use standard diffs in some classes. Any more news on the weights issue yet as i have had some good news on funding a new car next year. |

I don't think anything has been announced officially. So at the moment we're not sure about the minimum weights, the tyres or the engine size for next year. Apart from that everything is clear!
Guess all will become apparent before the AGM... |
