Red flag in practice. Everyone back in the pits except Kimi and Fernado.

Fernando 2nd, .1 behind Lewis at the moment. Although his last S2,S3,S1 sectors together would have put him top by 0.4s (ish).

EDIT: Alonso back in pits. Kimi has stopped on track.

Apparently it was a "massive shunt" according to ITV-F1.

Hope he's alright, and that the car is repairable for quali...?

If I was to have guessed I would have said Ascari, its probably the worse place to have a crash along with the exit of Parabolica.

I seem to recall a big accident Berger had their in about 1994 caused by a radio mix up between him and his teammate Alesi.

it seems he had a steering problem, rather than making a mistake. Reliability is dogging him again...although it has Fernando also this weekend.

It's going to be an interesting weekend. Quali looks good for McLaren, but on long runs Ferrari are right with them.

Lewis is consistently a tenth faster than Fernando in first sector, both pretty evenly matched in second (I'm talking about lap for lap rather than fastest sector times), and Fernando consistently a couple of tenths faster than Lewis in the third sector.

Wait for it...Lewis and Fernando for the pole position shootout, and Fernando to make a mistake again, when he should have had it in the bag

Not the greatest pic, but down low on the entry to Variante Ascari. He glanced the wall and then presumably ended up in the sand pit.

For me it looked like maybe the rear right suspension failure or deflation of the tire. Other might be rear brake failure? When braking for the chicane the car went right instead of left. He crash quit hard into the tires after hitting the wall first and gliding along it into the tires.

Kimi is OK but we have to see if there will be a engine change.
