I have 35-35 being sold by Howlings to Jamaica from Render ,and howlings buying it back again in 86 prior to being sold to peter Watts in 88.Hope this helps ?????

Steering rack ID
Time to fit new seals to my steering rack but I have no clue as to the mfgr or type used on the BT35. Any direction here would be appreciated.

Bob,
No seals in steering rack , bronze bushes each end . Grease on rack and pinion , no oil inside . Bryan. |

Steering Rack rubber gaiters
Are there other owners who would like new rubber boots (gaiters) for their steering racks?
I have scoured the world for something close to the size of the proper boots for the 35 rack. Nothing. I have a friendly local restoration molder willing to make molds and cast the rubber. He would like $200 to make the molds and $40 per boot for labour and materials. Is our rack used by other Brabhams or FF? Anyone else interested in proper new boots? Bob Slusher |

Andrew,
I'm in the process of building up wing mounts for my wing. From the pictures you sent Bob, I can tell the length of the main struts is approximately 12 inches as best as I can tell. So I have two questions: 1. Could you measure the actual length and let me know? 2. Also I need the "lean back" angle of the struts. An approximate value would be good. The angle I'm referring to is the true angle of the strut when the outward cant is removed, or in other words the angle (from vertical) between the length of the main strut and the mounting bolts on the transaxle which are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car. Am I clear here? I couldn't find true elliptical tube without trying to fabricate it from round tube, so I'm planning on using streamline tubing, which is airplane strut tubing. The overall wing attachment method will be a little different from stock, but overall I think it will look much better than the March wing I had originally. Thanks, Kent |

Thanks. Just what I was looking for. So subtracting from the vertical is a lean back of 15 degrees. I had mocked this up on my car and guesttimated either 10 or 20 degrees. Thanks, Kent |

as much as I can get on slow circuits! its rather amazes me that in the early days the wings must have nearly been at a stall angle,

The reason I ask, is that I want to setup my adjustment rods, and I'd like to be able to set a range, and frankly I don't have a good gut feel for this. Typically I run a 2.9 mile course with three straights, one about 3/8-1/2 mile long, the other two probably a little over a quarter mile long. I can look at the photos to set, which is fine, I just thought a little more quantitative data would be better.

sorry I dont have any measurements, hence the rather flippant reply. So many other factors tend to make bigger impacts on lap times that unless you are doing a lot of testing and running longer races I really dont take a lot of notice. By Sunday afternoon I am lucky if I have got gear ratios right let alone anything else!
Interestingly at Eastern Creek one of the better drivers in historics with a BT30 was nearly 2 seconds quicker with out any wings at all! Andrew Andrew |

I understand what you're saying. My main motivation is to just "get it right". My lap times, when I've had the chance to run are not much better than a bicycles' time, so I don't mean to imply that I'll be running at a pro pace, just trying to get everything close to where it should be on the build and setup of the wing.

Rear Brake Rotors
Anyone have a source for the rear brake rotors (cone shaped hat) for the BT35? Likely any available now would be six hole units which would be dandy.
