The scheme stops pay television broadcasters from buying the rights to events on the anti-siphoning list unless free-to-air broadcasters have purchased the rights to televise the event. The anti-siphoning list includes events the Minister for Communication believes should be televised free to the general public. 28 Mar 2023 Nascar here is on Foxtel pay & limited by the early morning timeslot for races live. |

expectations are high Downunder
Quote:
Shane van Gisbergen will make his NASCAR oval debut with a first start in the Truck Series in Indianapolis, days before his second Cup Series start with Trackhouse Racing. While the Cup Series races on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Sunday, August 13, the Truck Series is in action at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday, August 11. Van Gisbergen will drive the #41 Worldwide Express Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports in a deal announced by Trackhouse Racing, which confirmed his #91 Camaro livery 24 hours earlier. asked by Speedcafe Newscast’s Mark Fogarty to clarify if that meant it his plan to switch full-time to NASCAR next year, if possible. “I don’t know if I’ll be full-time,” he responded. When asked if his intention is to race in NASCAR if he can, the New Zealander replied, “Yes.” I understand we do get the Truck Series here, though I admit I've not watched them since Marcos Ambrose was working his way through a while back. |

Logano being Logano, dude you can't jump the corner and use another driver to stay on track. Haley's car beat up and that barrier needs repairs
And he did it again, you have to brake at T1 numbnuts Last edited by broadrun96; 13 Aug 2023 at 19:01. |

SVG doing a little bump and spin there. But in fairness it wasn't really him pushing but 2 idiots in front trying to make 2 in to 1 and he was just behind them being slow
Kobyashi learned the hard way his brakes ain't as good as the Hypercar, lucky to find a gap going deep in to T1 |

Busch may have broken a valve spring, Richard Childress on the radio to go out and listen for it. Team owner, engine diagnostics by ear on track, sounds about right for him.
Road course vets doing ok, SVG staying around low teens but long run pace, Button going backwards but think the car ain't great, Kamui has a few braking issues but he's been pushing the car and driving like he's having fun, Lally heading backwards but playing the bump game, Kostecki staying in the high teens to 20s a bit timid trying to use the bumper but his rules aren't keen on that so fair. SVG learning the track is where you want to drive not the drawing on paper. Cut through the corner inside of Larson like he's been in Cup forever |

Not The Cup Series, but former Cup Series driver and all around badass Ken Schrader becomes the oldest driver to win a NASCAR sanctioned event

Nobody is watching Nascar because its the purest road racing series going but Jesus Christ what did we just watch?
6 maybe 8 cars go off on fluid AFTER it was supposedly cleaned up under yellow... Sam Meyer doesn't even attempt to make turn 1 on the restart and just takes out Ty Gibbs who had dominated the race. I dont like Gibbs and you could argue that if you are gonna play with fire then you are going to get burnt but it doesn't sit right with me. I mean fair enough if you are battle wheel to wheel with the guy all race or you make a mistake or something but to clearly just drive through the guy is wrong imo. |

Kurt Busch has officially retired from at least competitive racing. He's never fully recovered from the concussion and related problems from last year's accident during practice at Pocono.

Well I'm sad about Kurt, glad about Bristol and without knowing what is replacing Road America don't know yet.
NASCAR has been off my radar last couple of months. I have managed to avoid any news about last weekends Bristol races and am hoping to watch a replay this weekend coming... |

Indy was one of many tracks that had issues with cars having the dreaded "aero push" as well as long green runs leading to a spread out field. The '08 fiasco that NASCAR and Goodyear were chiefly culpable for was the beginning of the end.
With some exceptions, the new car seems to put on better racing at the aero tracks, and Goodyear has had a lot less failures with their current tires than the old high profile tires used until the Generation 7 car. Maybe Goodyear had to lean on Dunlop (who I believe make the Goodyear branded tires that are used in the WEC and other series--Goodyear owns Dunlop's tire operations) to develop the current low profile tires. |

Harvick DQ'd from second after NASCAR claims to have found loose windsheld fasteners. I just saw this a few minutes ago and there's no further details from SHR or NASCAR from what I read.

They aren't appealing it and sounds like they were definitely loose and in very particular places to allow pressure relief

Ryan Blaney as champion. Love the family. Little strange as a champ. 6th place in the regular season but this is what we want, I guess. |

Takes me a minute to remember oh yeah, he was that guy. Went from the placeholder and interloper in the car to the old man, with get off my lawn rants at times, of the series like the guy he replaced

Guess we're all getting older. My brain is trying to work out who the "elder statesmen" are now Happy has retired. I'm thinking Keso and Busch, someone correct me!
