A rather brief but interesting article, on what 5 IndyCar driver's champions think how the series should move forward.

"on some tracks they need a no-reply push-to-pass system so the car in front can't respond"

That can be solved with a 3-second delay between push to boost.

I like that there is a reply push to pass, otherwise it will just be like DRS in F1. Also it means the driver has to be more selective when using it.

mstets should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I don't think DRS has resulted in all that much additional passing. Assume PtP could be programmed to prevent "car in front" from enabling PtP at any predetermined time interval after "car immediately behind" enabled PtP. Would surely result in more passing.

Driver in front would have to be very selective about using PtP, as he would only be guessing about when the guy behind is going to utilize it.

DRS has definitely helped, just watch any GP, except Monaco and more often than not, a race would be far more processional than it already is, without DRS.

There's certainly been less overtaking, at least on speedways, this year. I've missed a couple of the road course rounds, so I can't really speak to that...

Zak Brown has written his first piece on the “State of IndyCar”, which appears in Racer.com, so I thought it would be worth re-opening this thread, as a lot has happened since the last post back in August 2018.
