I have been able to access that area without any additional expense but have heard that some have been turned away without a wrist band

My Liber-t tag for French autoroutes is through Emovis Tag here in the UK. You rent the tag (one off charge) then pay your toll charges by direct debit. I've had mine for four years and it's been 100% reliable and fuss free. I know there are other providers too, but not sure if there are other UK based providers.

This reminds me of my youth when I was living in Southsea and we did a Booze Cruise in my mate's Renault Fuego (as it was the largest car owned by the group of us going) which had an overheating issue but was good enough for the couple of miles at a time from home to ferry, ferry to hypermarket and back again.

Over the last 40 years going to le mans and the classic we have broken down several times but always managed to complete the trip after either fixing things ourselves or getting the breakdown people to get things sorted.
