tomcug should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
So the 31 a little bit quicker than the 7 but the difference is very subtle. As for BMW, last year they were 15 laps down, this year 13 laps and the pace wasn't too strong.

Surprised by the level of attrition and poor reliability in GTP this year, compared to last year when they were brand new and untested.

Entertaining race all in all and was not too upset by the customary last hour full course yellow to bring the field together for a late sprint as the cars were quite close to each other so I did not think it influenced too much - maybe gave the 7 the chance to leapfrog the 31 in that pitstop - but even that was a strategy move that was in the making hours in advance as they were always pitting 1 or 2 laps later than the 31

Surprised by the lack of pace of the 6 porsche at the end after the final restart.

Just catching up some of the reports.

Broken rotor and they had to manage an ABS issue for the rest of the race.

No mention if they could change the tire though.

And in GTD. PRO only had a couple of cars that didn’t have any major problems or damage! And there was carnage in GTD, both accident and mechanical.

We were lucky that all these problems didn’t cause more yellows.

Is there any way to find out who did what in terms of hours and stints in each car?

I did not see or hear about Button at any time? Presuming he stinted at night

the imsa results page results.imsa.com has a stint analysis

Looks like maybe only one turn driving.

Yeah, he was let loose during the night and had a fairly messy stint. There were a few moments of contact with other cars, including one with the Pfaff McLaren at Turn 1 if I remember correctly.

The contact included a relatively lengthy and very smoky burnout, presumably done with IC power as I'm told that helps warm up the tires.

Imagine if we had one of those classic situations when a car following on the trioval catches the slipstream of the car ahead and manages to overtake them by the finish line but cannot make the move stick due to being on the outside of turn 1. Would have been funny if that scenario had happened on the run to the White flag and then the race director throws the chequered flag one lap too early and the car in the slipstream wins even though they did not stick the overtake. The fallout would have been huge haha

And some find from someone who was "scanning the race control channel at track".
Quote:
Race communicator called white flag next time after they had taken what was the 2 to go. But then shortly after stated that “due to the time remaining this would be the final lap”. Seemingly that message was meant to say next lap would be the final but came across as this lap. The starter in the flag stand then copied checkered flag next time by. About half a lap went by and the communicator finally realized and tried to correct and say white flag this time again but the starter. Did not copy that message the threw the checkered flag the 1 lap early.
Looks like there was miscommunication between race control and the man waving the flag that they couldn't correct in time. This quote if from the comments section of S366.

Some good context here around Porsche 6 car issues and the Acura lack of pace. Also some interesting info about BoP for Le Mans:

And Michelin is understandably questioning the efficacy of heavier cars when they designed these tires for something lighter.

Penske saying they had enough fuel:
https://www.motorsport.com/imsa/news...ours/10571389/
And from the Racecar article:
Quote:
Would the ACO and FIA remove the performance balancing option and allow cars to race within the set performance windows prescribed by the regulations and per Ferrari’s request?
Makes me wonder why would they want that in the first place. Of course this would make LMDh cars less of a threat... but there's still Toyota that will mop the floor with the 499P at equal weight and with no tyre warmers so... And I also hope they won't go into crazy 1100 kg weight zone that's mentioned there. Teams are supposed to work on tyre deg, not expect the ACO to add 100 kg ballast on the Toyotas to do that job for them.
