Introduction and update on BT35-X2.
Hi,
I appreciate the last post on this thread was in May last year, but as the thread originally started in 2003, I guess any new posts and updates will be welcome. I've just started Historic Racing in the UK and did my first season in Historic Formula Ford in 2015. I'm totally hooked ! I have recently been fortunate enough to secure Brabham BT35-X2 from Japan ( Still sitting as a Formula Two car, with a BDA, but not being used.) We are bringing the car back to UK and hoping to re-commission -X2, and get the car back racing again in Historic F2. This will mean re-applying for FIA and HSCC papers, as both have expired. I have read with interest the information about the car within the earlier pages of this thread, but any additional history anyone can help me with would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ross Drybrough |

The BT35X was never a F2 car of course, but HTPs only look at technical specification, not history, so if the car was presented in F2 BT35 specification, it could get a HTP. It would need to follow the specification of one of the two BT35s that appeared in F2 in 1972 and 1973, Dave Morgan's 1.9-litre Wood BDA car, or Bob Marsland's 2-litre Hart BDA car. (I am assuming Francisci's BT35 with 1.6 Nova that ran at Vallelunga in 1973 would not be allowed as a specification for historics.) |

(Sorry don't have a list) Peter McLaughlin, New Hampshire, bought the car from Nicholas December 2014. McLaughlin only ran the car in one test session. April 2016 McLaughlin sold the car to David Smoker of South Australia. |

BT35-31
Mike Hansen (post #2069917)
I purchased BT35-31 and BT35-32 a couple of years ago and completed a complete restoration in May 2018. The car was driven by Geoff Brabham in the SVRA Indy Brickyard along with BT35-26 that I drove. They were 1st and 2nd with Geoff winning in the Bt35-31. I think I posted a picture of it but not positive. It is british racing Green and number 83 (Geoff Brabham's number throughout his race career) Hugh Cree/ Maurice McCaig I also own and race BT35-19. The last race was at Watkins Glen with SVRA last September (2017). It is red and gold and there are several pictures of it on the internet under Brabham BT35 race cars. I also think I might have posted a picture of this car. Ron Hornig |

BT35-35

The BT35-35 has changed the ownership from Kurt Vanderspinnen, Belgium to me in Oct. 2021. Actually I bring it back on track to test the overall condition. Mid term I want to restore the car. The car is now in Germany close to the town Cologne. In case of any questions I would be happy to share information. best regards Michael Rasper |

BT35-35 change of ownership
Quote:
sorry for my late reply. I have asked Kurt Vanderspinnen, how have owned the car from 2012 to 2019. He told me that he has bought the car 2012 from Kris Perdu, Belgium. Kris should have bought the car from an auction organized by www.patrimoniumdiensten.be in Belgium. As far as I know the previous owner of Kris should be George Legein, Belgium. In case you have other or more details I would appreciate if you could share them with me. best regards Michael |

Thanks Michael.
After Georges Legein, I understand that it went to Jean-Luc Burlion in 2005 and then to Cédric Cordemans in 2009. You might be able to fill the gap in the car's history from Cordemans. His contact details are here: http://www.lezebre.eu/annonce/annonc...bre%200048.htm |

BT35/9 or 48
I Purchased the Roy Waltzer Car in 2020, originally stated as being the Nick Craw car #9. I also have an original chassis plate showing BT35/48. Sid Hool also has a chassis plate showing BT35/47 fitted to the sister team car he ran in european F2. I have since been in communication with Nick Craw who has confirmed that BT35/9 is in the USA and is owned by Mike Winebrenner. I have pictures of the original F3 log book for BT35/9 from Mike. I believe 47 & 48 may have been sold to Jolly Club in 71/72 as F3 cars.
Any help in history of #48 would be much appreciated. |

35-48 was sold to Scuderia Italia in 1972. 47 [and 45 and 46] went to Jolly Club If you drop me an email Racecarhistories[AT]gmail[DOT]com I can perhaps help you with history of chassis 48. Is this the Waltzer car that was purported to be chassis 9? Or, do you have a plate with BT35-48 and a chassis that isn't BT35-9 but you don't know what it is? In the latter case I really can help. |

Hello Nick,
great to hear from you that you have memories with the BT35-35. Can I ask you to send me some pictures of the car from the old days? I am right now restoring the car and will be able to finish the work later this year. |

I've got the message, that BT35-43 is now in the hands of Wayne Wilson, AUS. He got the car from Tim Kuchel, AUS in 2019.
