He did, during his "time out" in 2011. Didn't work out, and he ended up at Lotus for 2012.
We know that Stroll has at least some interest in sportscars from his Daytona outings, but obviously his (father's) interest is going to remain in F1 for the time being! |

I always considered giovinazzi an average driver a bit overrated actually, ok he drives a sauber so I don't expect he could run for important places but giovinazzi has always been so terribly incostant these seasons.
Not to consider he's almost 30, so it's not he has many margins of improvement yet to aspire to something better like getting a ferrari seat. Guess life will go on anyhow if he will lose his f1 seat, even if the real joke here is ferrari that completely lost any little influence... they aren't even able to impose giovinazzi to one of their engine supplied teams while toto wolff in a couple of weeks managed to place one of his driver in sauber and forced albon to cut his ties with redbull (at least for 2022) to join williams. Once again, the chad wolff the virgin (s)binotto |

The sweet, sweet irony if Stroll was out there looking for a sportscar seat in a year or so after Aston's chairman had a direct hand in s**tcanning their Hypercar programme.

Hello Alpine, we've been expecting you. LMDh confirmed for 2024. |

I still don't understand why IMSA let the LMDH rules go to the WEC. If you want to build an LMDH instead of LMH you should have to go through IMSA. No one is building an LMH to go through IMSA only so why should teams have that option for WEC. But maybe I want to have more cars in IMSA as well

I mean Glickenhaus wants to race in IMSA...
Would Alpine qualify as an IMSA manufacturer? |

They have to pay IMSA's entry and marketing fees, produce at least 2500 cars a year to be considered an OEM, and I think it would help if Renault sold Alpine cars in North America.

Are the 2500 cars worldwide or North America only?

Your guess is as good as anyone's, S365's comment with his quotations
IMSA has updated its sporting regulations to reflect the definition of a manufacturer, which now states that the OEM must not only be recognized as an “IMSA Official Automotive Partner” but also have an “annual production of 2,500 or more vehicles for public consumption and public road use” in order to be eligible in the WeatherTech Championship. I'll bet Alpine could be approved as produced under the Nissan cover so there's your 2500 in a single town. If they so desired |

In 2019, Alpine has sold 3172 cars. In 2020, it has dropped to 1526 cars (covid effect I guess as we had a serious lockdown in France).
Since, the brand has been relaunched in 2018, more than 10000 cars have been sold. I guess that those sale figure make it eligible for IMSA races if they pay the commercial fee. https://lesalpinistes.com/alpine-a11...n-france-2019/ https://www.turbo.fr/actualite-autom...renault-176103 https://www.largus.fr/actualite-auto...-10659398.html |

1.32. Manufacturer means an officially recognized IMSA Official Automotive Partner pursuant to a separate agreement with IMSA, with annual production of 2,500 or more vehicles for public consumption and public road use. 1.35. OEM means original equipment as delivered on a Car built by a recognized automobile manufacturer and delivered via a regular retail sales outlet. Not that it really matters in the terms of this discussion - although I think the subtle difference of 'OEM' definition may impact some teams. e.g. - are Glick's OEM parts delivered via a regular retail sales outlet? |

I would guess that means a shop, not ordering your Noble from a dude in Ohio online. I think it was Ohio but you could order your US Noble online and get your engine at the same time from the stock they had

Let’s hope the Audi LMDH program goes ahead on schedule. I’m sure Muller will find something to do in the meantime, although it’s anyone’s guess where he will be

Rast and Muller are kind of obvious choices on that account, as well as the fact that for sure Rene has some LMP1 experience. Also, we have to consider that Multimatic are supposed to be delivering chassis to Porsche Motorsport and Audi Sport by year's end/very early next year, and Porsche did target a late 2021 roll out for their car, and Audi Sport probably won't be far behind.

I can think of a lot worse than Rast and Muller, they've got enough experience in this type of racing. Hopefully the cars will be prepared enough by the time it comes to race. Exciting times ahead, even if we won't have it as good as was at Le Mans when we had so many different manufacturers like Toyota, Porsche and the successful Audi, plus the great Rebellion

Would that matchup between those two great names work? Of course it's a few years away if it does happen, so things can change till then. Be interesting to see what actually happens. I do wonder how much longer McLaren will remain in sportscars for

Didn't expect Ye to end up at Porsche, if I'm honest - even though from last season it was clear he'd be be picked up by somebody.
The next question is what next year looks like for Ye - I know VAG brands co-operate more than most, but with so many seats potentially available, and with WRT angling for the Audi gig, I can't see him staying with WRT for 2022. |
