we are lucky as Kevin has a blue badge so we usually go wednesday or thursday and are allowed to park right by the race track.

Scrutineering Schedule I suspect the now aborted Tuesday scrutineering plan for those eight LMGT3 cars may have had a connection to the newly announced Saturday afternoon parade Mike has linked to above. |

I checked my camping gear yesterday, looks like the mice have missed the tent fortunately.
Still waiting for the toll tag but got the Crit Air receipt. Travel and EU car rescue insurances done, just need to get the food and drink into the fridge. Setting off 11th at 0530. |

Aye, camping gear acquired here, all that's left to do is have a quick installation lap with the tents!
I'm sure it will feel much more real once we get rolling on the M74 towards England. |

Appears some old retired french soccer player has been given the honour for waving the flag this year. Zinedine Zidane think he used to play for france last century

Well, maybe he has heard of Le Mans before, contrary to Lebron James last year who appeared to be utterly misplaced.

Italian drivers better watch out for headbutts if they make the podium...

Just checked my T17 seat it's b 141. Should be good for the start, before wandering around.

We do use the toll between bolougne and abberville but that is because we tried soon after it opened to use the old roads but it proved ridiculously impossible and TBH both on way down and back the bit from Calais to Rouen is not as nice as the old n138

You are right, Simon - we use the Newhaven - Dieppe Ferry to skip that section then drive on D roads all the way - but it takes us 2 days each way. We use a short section of the N138 near Gace but other that that we avoid that too. It works for us as the drive down and hotels en route are a big part of the trip for our group. We also avoid Rouen by using the Pont D'Bretonne.

We have used that route in the past, the second covid year we drove slowly down from dieppe to le mans in an old vw bus, Top speed was bearly over walking pace so motorways were not worth using, The old roman roads (n138) are straight and true so doing 40 MPH on them is much quicker than doing 40 on the motorway

Any motorway tips for France in general? I've never driven on the continent, so would be useful to know any differences in general etiquette/rules.
Having said that, I've spent some time using the M60 in Manchester.. with which there is no etiquette. |

French motorways are great. Super smooth, hardly ever any hold ups, 80mph limit (in the dry). They take lane discipline seriously. Keep right unless passing, and it works because traffic levels are generally low. Lots of places to stop if nature calls and the services are generally superior to what you find in the UK.

Just stick at the speed limit and set your cruise control.
