They had to get rid of the hybrid because Ingrams team were using it in qualifying for extra boost. Jake Hill even told you as much.

That is absolutely not true.
Everyone used their allocated HEMS value in every qualifying session. No-one exceeded their allocation.

You think that the poster boy for the series, the guy who did all the development work doesn't have special access to the software on the laptops or mates that work at Cosworth?

Jake Hill told you for christ sake. Not just me. The actual champion.

When?

If you are referring to the TTT interview, he said "it's like they have another engine mode or something they can go to for qualifying".

That is in no way related to the hybrid use, and the key is that he said it is 'like'. The reality is that every car's use of boost and hybrid is fully scrutinised and everything Excelr8 did was within the technical regulations.

He was simply stating that the Hyundai is able to achieve a noticeable top speed when in qualifying setup that BMW is finding difficult to match.

To link that comment to being about abusing the HEMS is a stretch, and to take it further and say it is the reason for dropping the use of hybrid is beyond laughable.

I think it's just a silly conspiracy started somewhere. Excelr8 have just done a great job of engineering the car and they have done the most with it. But the Beemers are still good enough to beat them

More regulation tweaks - nothing too major I don’t think.

https://btcc.net/btcc-confirms-further-rule-tweaks/

Good that the awful hard tyre for the top-ten finisher rule has been changed, it now just applies to the three podium finishers.

And if I’m reading that correctly, if you only have one podium you can still compete for the JST (unless you’ve won it before). Not sure which drivers this affects - Pearson or Osborne maybe? I think each either lost or inherited a podium at some point to make it confusing!

Safety car restarts seemed fine to me so not sure why that’s changed.

I like that they've changed the rules for the non-qualifiers from the first round of quali so it's not so much down to weather and track evolution. Much fairer and consistent way to do it.

Pearson is still eligible, his only outright podium was his win. The previous outright was a DQ.

The race leader is required to maintain approximately the same speed the safety car was using when it extinguished its lights, until the leader has passed the new ‘Restart Point’ – designated at each circuit by TOCA and to be positioned between the final corner and the start/finish control line – after which the leader can then accelerate up to racing speed.
I can see that causing problems at Thruxton and Donington in particular. There's not much space between the last corner and the finish line.

Thanks, that’s what I thought but wasn’t sure! I think it was Osborne who inherited his DQ actually?

Also it’s more interesting if they restart with a corner in between, surely that’s a large part of timing the restart right. I can’t remember there being any problems this year for them to change it?

Disappointed that the awful option tyre will be carried over for the next season. It devalues racing a great deal in my opinion and it's just a silly gimmick. I really hoped we'd see the back of it next year...

As for JST, IMO it should be 'rookie of the year' award. In its current form (the new tweaked version even more so) seems completely irrelevant and I couldn't care less about who's winning it tbh.

Indycar does it, and Gow has shared his love of Indy Qually in the past, now creeping into races. Which track will host the 500 mile race?

Seen something saying it isn't Cook to PMR so... Goodness knows where he is off to?

TBLs may provide clarity but fascinating off-season already.

They also said "the team aims to undertake an extensive development programme and testing on its fleet of Honda Civic Type Rs". They seem to have managed to achieve this very quietly...

Problem with that is there are so few rookies - would’ve just been Sumpton against himself last year (unless DeLeon counted with only half a season) until Zelos came in. But I agree, it’s getting more and more open each year, I guess because the majority of the grid have won several races.

Yeah I'm expecting some surprises with the TBLs. Cook to PMR was more a bit of ruling every other option out for various reasons and him having previously driven for them.

This is shaping up to be a very interesting off season.
