I'm amazed that some people still mention Clyde Valley Racing as being even a possibility!
That 'entry' is nothing but someone's wet dream. |

Hmmm lets see; the fact is that they don't have car, don't have sponsor, don't have team and have disappeared off the face of the earth.
It was pure fiction from the word go and still people give it even 1% credibility???? How easily people are sucked in by someones fantasy. (I must remember next year to use my photoshop software and make some pretty pictures of a pretend Btcc car and announce my ficticious team and get everyone excited about nothing) ;-) |

I never the knew the rules differed so much from the VLN to S2000 that they have to tear the car (re: 1 series) down and start basically from scratch?

The thing that interests me the most is the lack of rear wing on the 120. All the S2000 cars I've seen carry the same wing, which from what I've read produces a definite effect as opposed to the BTC wing which was pretty much cosmetic. The 120 race kit includes a diffuser, so I'm wondering if this gives comparable effects to the wing on, say, a 320 touring car. The lack of rear-end shots of the 120 could be seen to support this... [/conspiracy]
The 120d that ran (pretty well!) in the Dutch Supercar championship was running what looked like an S2000 wing, so was this a true S2000 car or not? I'm puzzled... Also, re the previous post, it looks to me that it's fairly common practice to do a complete teardown and rebuild on a serious racecar - just based on random stuff that I've read on the ever reliable internet... Hopefully Rick might be able to clarify at least bits of this, but I'll be supporting him regardless - it's great to see a completely new car on the grid, especially running on new fuel. Best of luck - if I see you at the media day I'd like to wish you the best in person Last edited by gregc; 8 Mar 2007 at 23:03. |

Rick bought a Brand-New race car in kit form. Despite the way it reads in Autosport, his car has never raced before. The car kit he bought was designed for long distance racing. BMW do not have an S2000 spec series 1 ready! Hence the lack of a rear wing.. For the moment! |

I think the engineers have done a lovely job on that car, looks very nice indeed.
After reading the Diesel 2000 regs they have to use a 35mm restrictor on the inlet, would be interesting to know how much torque this car will produce - will certainly pull well out of corners. Does anyone know to what spec Schubert (who ran the original 120d in the VLN) modified there engine as they were faster around the Dubai F1 circuit than many of the M3's and they were running in the same Diesel class as our 147 JTD Cup ) |

According to BMW's specs the 120d develops about 245bhp and 450Nm of torque - by comparison the 320si is about 275bhp and 242Nm. Not sure if that's with the restrictor or not though.

Pit lane gossip in Dubai was that it was running around 240bhp so that sounds about right - if it was a works effort then maybe the engine was spec'd to the regs.
