Both are very nice, P. I think you finally got your Bahrain-like first and second corners in number two, there.

Well, not too drastic, there, P. It looks pretty good. The only bad thing about it is the rather sharp right after the first chicane. But that's already there ofcourse. I think it keeps cars from overtaking in the chicane. I tried to smooth it a bit in my version.

Now that I look at it, the track IS drastig. The wall of champions chicane is gone and you moved the pitlane as well.

Here's another view on Montréal. Maybe as radical as Pirenzo's. I moved the pitlane to a completely different area, too, but kept the majority of the track intact.

Pirenzo, those two variants are nice, but Lustigs is better .
Some weeks ago you posted something about a street track in London being used for a PR-event in the UKGP-weekend. Where did ya find that? |

Know what Montréal should do? Lose the rowing strip thing. That would make more room for paddock and stuff.

I like Lustig's edit, but it is too much of an old-school type design for F1 to race on, nowadays, which is a shame

The paddock doesn't need to be bigger, it would just help, and abandonning a track because some other track has a bigger paddock or something is is terribly sad in my opinion. Lustig, sure, but what if they wanted to host the Olympics again Last edited by pirenzo; 18 Jun 2004 at 15:37. |

The biggest shame everybody thinks that. Its facilites are adequate, if a bit cramped, and that should be enough IMO. The paddock doesn't need to be bigger, it would just help, and abandonning a track because some other track has a bigger paddock or something is is terribly sad in my opinion.
I was referring to the track layout more so than the infrastructure. I agree that too many great tracks in all forms of motorsport get left behind as tracks with bigger/newer/shiny-er facilities come along. |

I would have to say that TK has had something of an unfair advantage in getting his 6 Le Mans wins. His cars were so fast to begin with, and were reliable beyond belief. If the gearbox did go, it cold be changed in 5 minutes. Ickx had no such luck, except for in some cases having the best car in the field, but even then, it was still so much more unpredictable.
As to the matter of facilities, why the heck did they think they needed that elevated pit/paddock bit at Monaco? They've gone without it for 75 years. Also, and many have noted this, the character of the tracks themselves are taking a back seat to massive and overly extravagant grandstands, garages, and paddocks. |

Yeah, but every year he's driven the R8 there's always been at least 2 others in the race...
And the WSC95 Porsche that he drove in 1997 wasn't easily the fastest. |

Put it this way, Derek Bell thinks he's a deserving 6 time winner, and Ickx said to Tom himself at the Monaco Grand Prix that he was sure Tom would equal his record...
