What do we think the odds are of Restart Racing acquiring the old BTC/One Civics if they don’t make a return this year?

I'd be very surprised given they made quite the investment last winter into the Cupras , not sure how much of a development dead end the Civics would be.

Personally I think if the Civic comes out of retirement it'll be a team stepping up and testing the waters to see if they could repeat Excelr8 and what they did with the MG.

Now this I could see making a lot of sense , a new team running the cars with the M-Sport engine to just get to grips with the series would be ideal.

Suppose any new interest has only got or a month or so before the TBLs are allocated, I guess nothing’s been rumoured on that front. |

Anyone would think that there was a way of controlling how much hybrid each car had, and even controlling when it's deployed. Next you'll be starting on about Team HARD coming back, again.

“Newly crowned British Touring Car champion Jake Hill will remain at the West Surrey Racing BMW team for 2025, when the squad could expand to as many as five cars.” “Thompson and Morgan are known to be in the frame for a seat in 2025, with WSR’s four-time champion Colin Turkington an obvious target to remain on board.” “Team boss Dick Bennetts conceded that talks with Scottish BTCC regular Aiden Moffat are also ongoing, while rumours that were rife last winter of WSR fielding a second MB car alongside Hill have also not gone away.” “WSR boss Dick Bennetts told Autosport: “We’re trying very hard to get back up to four cars and possibly five – there’s enough interest, to be honest, and we’ve kept all the staff on. There are probably eight drivers on the list, but it’s the age-old problem of getting the numbers and the team harmony to add up.” |

This is fascinating. I'm surprised Morgan and Moffat are in talks . Of course you know I want Bobby T back there more than anything! |

Sounds like this time last year - there's a whole queue of drivers at the door of WSR, only we know that one by one they fell away and we were left with 3.

No surprise to see Hill stay. I’m sure the other Beemer drivers will be announced in due course

Biggest talking point must be the possible addition of Moffat at WSR. Where will this leave Toyota for one and how do Cook Thompson and Pearson get drives when they are struggling for Budget and their are fewer seats on offer . With regard to possible additions do we think Dynamics can return with the previously run Hondas . They could as suggested use the Toca engine if the Honda unit isn’t deemed suitable or cost effective . Lower budget required ready made cars and drivers like Thompson and Sheddon should budget allow . Would make them similar to PMR who showed a low budget Indy team can do well.

Moffat was in discussions last year and I for one was surprised when the deal was done for two car sub team at Toyota. Question is what’s changed to make this change to BMW: clearly WSR did a better job this year, even though Moffat and Cook took victories. Seems new deal will be one car and Cook is not part of the deal . Their is we know a ready built cost effective car just waiting for use and Moffat has both FWD and RWD experience . He also has previous long standing connections to Laser Tools as a sponsor . If he takes a 2nd MB seat then another car could be built for AN other providing budget and TBL requirements can be met , which is where we came in last year of course .

I think the big question out of that Autosport article is where does this leave Josh Cook? If he's not coming to WSR with Moffat and Autosport are convinced he's got a deal elsewhere I wonder how this will all shake out as he's never been someone with big personal sponsors.

Speedworks remain the great unknown , I'd expect Huff back but the other 3 seats seem up for grabs. Think the 2 currently non TGR branded cars would need someone with a major title sponsor to come along and I don't know how many drivers have sponsors at that kind of financial level.

I still think this is why those 'big' sponsors might not be keen on Cook. https://find-and-update.company-info...s/appointments |
