As I said in the race thread, I was cheering them on hardcore during the race, and stood up and applauded when they crossed the line for the checkers(along with many other people around me who became supporters due to my constant cheering, hah).

Those percentages were based on the overall leaders laps, correct? I only ask because I think the ALMS changed the rules that you only have to complete 70% of the class winners laps to be classified. That bumps up the percentages slightly. From drivers quotes it seems that the car is about as fast as it can be without some significant improvements in certain areas. At Lime Rock they mentioned grip, so that could be simply tires or it could also be mechanical. I guess we will have to wait until the updated car is ready to find out. |

Clarification to last post....The Yokes are fairly 'consistent' throughout the day....front grip in, traction coming off. and how overall fast they are is another discussion. ("they are fast" removed) |

I can't help but feel that the tyres are probably the major issue. When I worked with the Ford Mondeos in BTCC 93-94, at first the team ran with Yokohamas on the basis that they were both exclusive and cheap compared to the Michelins everyone else ran at the time. As I recall, a tyre test comparison soon saw a change in allegiance.
Exclusive tyre deals can indeed work for you but I think to understand the real pace of that car, RSR need parity on tyres right now. |

What we need is Bridgestone! Now that they will not be back to be the exclusive tire for F1, maybe they wanna kick Michelin in the nuts! We can only hope. |

Personally, I don't think that the whole operation is a lost cause yet. Since they will have another, newer chassis for PLM (2nd team car), I say, "let's wait until then to decide if the team is worth it".

They were only a few MPH down on the best GT2s at Lime Rock (4 as far as I could see). Generally, there is hope I think...

Well, in the civil service where I have the misfortune to work, we would be urged in those circumstances to celebrate the success of the tyres in a meeting at our Team Information Board.....

No, there's no doubt that big improvements need to be made, but merely that amongst the shocking reliability issues and general poor performance, there still has to be issues why the thing is so slow. Speed trap figures from Lime Rock showed it to be one of the quickest through the trap, so aero would appear not to be an issue and the air restictors should generally equalise engine performance if the regs are right. Therefore, poor lap times would seem on that evidence to come from tyre grip (or maybe braking performance) wouldn't you agree?
